WHAT'S IN THE REPORT?
The Global Simulator Golf Market Report

Simulator Golf Has Reached Meaningful Global Scale.

With 102 million off-course golfers globally and an estimated 15,000 simulator venues, SIM golf has developed into the fastest-growing participation channel in the sport. This report quantifies that growth through rigorous analysis of 12 countries and more than 2,500 simulator venues.

SIM GOLF IS NO LONGER EMERGING. IT'S ORGANISING.

01

Hardware created the market. Software will connect it.

Whilst 70.6% of venues have a known hardware supplier, only 11% have a dedicated competition platform. The next phase of growth will be defined by ecosystem integration, structured engagement and connected participation infrastructure.

02

Leagues are the mark of a mature market

Leagues are the single clearest marker that separates a Community Venue from a Connected one. Yet, less than 25% operate cross-venue competitive structures and many of those that do use spreadsheet, WhatsApp or hardware-native tools to manage them.

03

The opportunity lies in repeat play

Membership is the clearest indicator that a venue has moved beyond transactional revenue into a recurring relationship with its players. 58% of venues globally offer membership yet venues currently lack the digital infrastructure to support it.

04

Scale and maturity are not the same thing

Japan has 1,033 venues — more than any other country — and a league penetration rate of 13.9%. Scandinavia has 461 venues and a maturity score of 92.5. Venue count tells you where the market is, but engagement infrastructure tells you where the future opportunities lie.

05

The strongest venues have evolved beyond transactional revenue

77% of venues offer a beginner-friendly environment. 58% offer membership. 32% run leagues. A good SIM venue is defined by how far a venue has moved beyond hourly bay rental.

06

Governance structures will connect SIM Golf

SIM venues are already operating at scale and the infrastructure to connect them to the wider national game now exists. The countries that establish standardised engagement will own the data layer that connects off-course participation to the national game.

THE CONVERSATION STARTS HERE.

The next infrastructure layer for SIM golf is the one that makes player data portable, that drives those players to repeatable forms of play, and that turns SIM venues into a connected participation ecosystem.
