32
players are formed into 8 groups of 4 to begin the championship. Each player plays 3 rounds of match play against players in a group of 4, called Group Play. The winner of each match will receive 1 point. Tied matches after 18 holes results in each player receiving 0.5 points. In the event of a tie in the group after three rounds, the tied players will have a sudden death stroke play play-off to see who wins the group.

The 8 players with the most points from each group after 3 rounds will advance to the final 8 Championship Bracket, called Bracket Play. The 8 group winners will be seeded into a traditional 8-player bracket based on the group number they won, not based on their original seeds.
 
Eligibility Age Limit: 13 and older.
Maintains residence in North Carolina or South Carolina (maintains residence means legal resident of NC or SC; or enrolled and attends on-campus college/university in NC/SC; or currently lives in and has lived in NC/SC for at least 5 of the previous 12 months prior to the championship start date)
Must have a valid USGA Handicap Index at a CGA member club

Competition Schedule July 30: Practice Rounds Available after 12:00
July 31: Round 1 & Round 2 of Match Play Group Play.
August 1: Round 3 of Match Play Group Play. Stroke play playoffs for any group ties.
August 2:  Quarterfinal & Semifinal Matches.
August 3: Championship Match. Awards Ceremony immediately after.

Practice Round Information
Available: July 30, and July 1-29 Monday-Thursdays only.

Registration There is no formal registration prior to the championship.
Food Service Information Lunch will be provided for players on July 31-August 1. All other food and beverage will be at the player’s expense.
Spectator & Caddie Information Spectator Information: Spectators are welcome at CGA championships. Spectators are not allowed to ride in a player’s golf cart at any time or rent a spectator cart except as provided in the CGA Tournament Manual.
Caddie Information: Caddies are prohibited at all CGA championships.
