Eligibility | Entry is open to any female and male amateur golfer ages 13-18 who has not started college, is a legal resident of North Carolina and has an active USGA GHIN handicap. |
Format | The championship format is 36-holes of stroke play. There is no stroke limit. |
Divisions |
Boys' 13-15 and Boys' 16-18 Girls' will be divided into divisions based on the number of entries. TYGA reserves the right to modify divisions based on entries. |
Starting Times |
Round one 12:00 pm - 2:10 pm
double tee start. Round two 7:30 am - 9:30 am double tee start Starting times will be posted 7 days in advance of tournament date. |

Push/Pull Carts | Push carts area allowed and encouraged at all TYGA tournaments. |
Caddie Information | Caddie are NOT allowed. |
Practice Round | Practice rounds are available at a rate of $25. Please call The Emerald GC golf shop for availability. Players must call in advance to schedule practice rounds. Rate is for players only. |
Spectator and Parent Policy | Spectator Information:
Spectator carts are allowed at a rate of $25 per cart. Spectator carts are
restricted to the cart path at all times. Parent Policy: Parents are encouraged to follow their child(ren). We do ask that all parents remain on the cart path (roughs if no cart paths), unless assisting with the search for a golf ball. |
Withdrawal and Refund Policy |
If you cannot compete in the event, you must withdraw from the event by
contacting the TYGA office at 910-673-1000 prior to the day of the tournament.
If you do not withdraw properly, you are considered a "no show" and you will be
suspended from TYGA events for 1 year. Refund Policy: A $20 administrative fee will be charged to all withdrawals. |
Prizes |
Trophies are awarded to the overall champions and each division winner, runner-up, and second runner-up. |
CGA Exemptions |
The overall boys’ winner (boys’ divisions combined) earns exemptions for the NC Junior Boys and Dogwood State Junior. Places 2-10 earn one exemption into either (but not all) the NC Junior Boys’ (5 available) or Dogwood State Junior Boys’ (5 available). Those players will be contacted after the tournament and will rank (1-2) their exemption preference. Exemptions are then awarded based on the Down East Junior finish. Ties will be broken by using round two scores for the USGA method of matching scorecards. |
Optimist International Junior | An optional qualifier for the 2021 Optimist International Junior Championship will be held in conjunction with the Down East Junior. An additional entry fee of $15 will be collected at registration for those who wish to qualify. The Optimist qualifier is optional. The number of juniors advancing will be determined at the end of Down East Junior registration. For more information visit Optimist International Junior Championship. |
Handicap Posting | TYGA will post tournament scores to player's GHIN handicap record. |
Tournament of Champions | Invitations for the Tournament of Champions will be extended to all division winners in each TYGA one day series event. |
