Eligibility | Entry is open to any female and male amateur golfer grades 6-8 (classes 2025, 2026 and 2027) and is a legal resident of North Carolina. |
Format |
The championship is conducted at 18-holes of stroke play with a maximum score of 8 on any hole. All players, regardless of gender, will play from the same tees. Each team must return two individual 18-hole scores per day to qualify for the team championship. Team and Individual competitions are run concurrently. |
Team Composition |
All members of a team must attend the same middle school. A middle school student is defined as a student who is in grades 6-8 during the current school year. A maximum of four players may represent a school. However, if no girls are on the team, that school is limited to three participants. Home-schooled players and private school students and teams are allowed. |
Division |
Competitors compete in divisions based on gender for individual competition. There are no age divisions. |
Starting Times |
12:30 pm - 2:30 pm double tee start. Starting times will be posted 7 days in advance of tournament date. |
Course Setup |
All players will compete from 5,471 yards (5 tees) par 72. |
Field Size | 84 players (60 boys and 24 girls) |
Electronic Measuring Devices | Players may use an approved measuring device during this event. |
Push/Pull Carts | Push carts area allowed and encouraged at all TYGA tournaments. |
Caddie Information | Caddies are NOT allowed. |
Spectator and Parent Policy | Spectator Information:
Spectator carts are allowed at a rate of $30 per cart. Spectator carts are
restricted to the cart path at all times. Parent Policy: Parents are encouraged to follow their child(ren). We do ask that all parents remain on the cart path (roughs if no cart paths), unless assisting with the search for a golf ball. |
Withdrawal and Refund Policy |
If you cannot compete in the event, you must withdraw from the event by
contacting the TYGA office at 910-673-1000 prior to the day of the tournament.
If you do not withdraw properly, you are considered a "no show" and you will be
suspended from TYGA events for 1 year. Refund Policy: A $20 administrative fee will be charged to all withdrawals. |
Awards |
Trophies are awarded to the championship team, all members of the championship team, the individual boys' champion and the individual girls' champion. The top 5 in the boys’ division and the top 5 in the girls’ division will be award all-state middle school award for 2021. |
Exemptions |
The top 5 boys will receive exemptions in to the 2021 CGA Dogwood State Junior Boys Championship. |
Handicap Posting | TYGA does not post one day tournament scores to player's GHIN handicap record. |
Tournament of Champions | Invitations for the Tournament of Champions will be extended to all division winners in each TYGA one day series event. |
