THE COURSE - PORTAGE COUNTRY CLUB
Founded in 1894 in Akron, Ohio, Portage Country Club is one of the oldest clubs in America. The Club’s founding members were Charles C. Goodrich (the son of Dr. Benjamin F. Goodrich, the founder of B.F. Goodrich Company), Charles G. Raymond (an executive at B.F. Goodrich Company) and Bertram G. Work (also an executive at B.F Goodrich Company).
FORMAT
Stroke Play. An individual competition, in which each player competes against all other players within the field. With Handicaps being revised daily under the new World Handicap System (WHS), Handicap Indexes will be revised the morning AFTER entries close
PRICE
Entry includes 18 holes of golf, cart, range balls, lunch & gift certificates
ELIGIBILITY
Open to all amateur golfers. Must be a member of a NOGA Member Club with an ACTIVE GHIN Handicap Index
FIELD SIZE
78 players. We will assess the field size based on cart availability. If the event is full, players can still register and be placed on the Waiting List. Players will NOT be charged until they have placed on the active tournament roster.
HANDICAP INDEX
With Handicaps being revised daily under the new World Handicap System (WHS), Handicap Indexes will be revised the morning AFTER entries close.
DIVISIONS & FLIGHTS
Open (ALL AGES AND SKILL LEVEL) and Senior (55+) division can be chosen during registration. To compete in the senior division, players MUST be 55 years of age or older on or before the date of competition. Players will be flighted based on HANDICAP INDEX. Flight breakpoints will depend on the size and equity of the field (approximately 8-12 teams per flight).
