ABOUT THE CHAMPIONSHIP

The English Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship for golfers with a disability is open to male and female golfers and is played by 36 holes of stroke play over two days, 18 holes being played on each day. 

The winner is the competitor who returns the lowest gross score over 36 holes. Prizes are also awarded for the lowest net scores (both male and female playing categories) with a Handicap Index of scratch (or lower) to 18.4.

Players with a Handicap Index of 18.5 to 36.0 will play in a separate 36 hole stableford competition category of the main Championship with prizes are awarded for the highest stableford scores.

Players must hold an EDGA Access or World Rankings Pass or hold a national or international deaf sport classification.

 

NEXT YEAR'S VENUE

The par 72 course measures 6,851 yards from its championship tees and has views of world famous Durham Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the inspiration for Ramside’s second course – The Cathedral Course opened in September 2014. The Prince Bishops' course is named after the warrior clergymen who ruled over the lawless North from Durham Castle after the Norman Conquest in the 11th Century.
