Handicap Calculation
We will be following USGA Rule 6.2 to establish each team’s Playing Handicap and using the Recommended Handicap Allowance for a 2-person scramble of 35% of the low player’s handicap and 15% of the other player's handicap, adjusted for the respective tee’s rating and slope.
For example, here is a calculation for the team of Bob (age 64 with a 12.4) and Tom (age 50 and a 10.1)
Calculating the Course Handicap for Bob
This player is on the Green - Men's tee, the slope is 125, the rating is 67.8 and the par is 72.
The Course Handicap is calculated as index * slope / 113 = 12.4 * 125 / 113 = 13.716....The Course Rating - Par adjustment of 67.8 - 72 = -4.2 is applied. The resulting Course Handicap is 9.516....
Calculating the Course Handicap for Tom
This player is on the White - Men's tee, the slope is 131, the rating is 71.1 and the par is 72.
The Course Handicap is calculated as index * slope / 113 = 10.1 * 131 / 113 = 11.708....The Course Rating - Par adjustment of 71.1 - 72 = -0.9 is applied. The resulting Course Handicap is 10.808....
The team Playing Handicap is calculated by sorting the individual Course Handicaps and multiplying them by the following weights: 0.35 for the lowest handicap, 0.15 for the highest. Therefore, the team handicap is (0.35 * 9.516... + 0.15 * 10.808...) = 5.
Your individual Course Handicap and your team's Playing Handicap will be indicated on the scorecard.
Players participating without an active GHIN handicap will be treated as having a 0 (zero) Handicap Index for purposes of scoring results and skins.
