*The USGA Rules of Golf governs all play with the following exceptions:
Distance Measuring Devices: Distance Measuring Devices are permitted for use as long as they do not read slope and/or wind
Out of Bounds: Wooden & Cyclone fences as well as the tennis building define out of bounds. Out of bounds is determined by the inside edge of fence posts at ground level and white stakes. Driving Range teeing ground and practice bunker, as well as the practice putting green is to be played as out of bounds
Obstructions: Stones in Bunkers are to be played as Movable Obstructions and can be moved without penalty
Hole #3 -Redbud – As an additional option to Rule 24, players may use the nearest Ball Drop provided when interference exists with the cart path and wooden fence.
Hole #6 -Redbud – As an additional option to Rule 24, players may use the Ball Drop provided when interference exists with the cart path in the area between the blue lines.
Abnormal Ground Conditions: Unmarked tree stumps are to be played as short trees.
Newly planted trees identified by ropes and stakes are Ground Under Repair from which play is prohibited. If a player’s ball lies in the area or if it interferes with the player’s stance or the area of intended swing, the player is required to take full relief.
A ball located in an unmarked flowerbed is in play. No free relief.
Scoring: The maximum score that a team can record is Double Bogey (i.e. Par 4 = max score of 6)
Format for ALL Divisions:
5-Hole & 9-Hole Division Scramble – Crabapple Course
- Both Parent and Child will tee off on each hole.
- The team will then decide which drive is best and go to that drive (quickly pick up the shot that’s not used).
- Both Parent and Child hit a shot from that location and each subsequent best location until the ball is holed.
- Players may move the ball within one club length through the course (no closer to the hole) and one putter head length on the green (no closer to the hole). The playing surface must remain the same when placing the ball.
18-Hole Division Scramble (see description above): Crabapple / Redbud Course
**The ball may be moved one scorecard length (no closer to the hole) in player’s own fairway.
Ties: All ties will be a match of cards determined by USGA scorecard recommendations depending on the number of holes your division is playing in.
Divisions & Course Yardages:
If you play golf regularly, then play from the yardage you usually play from. One of our core values at The First Tee is INTEGRITY. Due to the fact that we have a large variation of experience and skill level in our tournament, we respectfully ask that you demonstrate this core value as you decide which tees you each should play. Below is a guideline:
- Men with handicap 9 or below - Blue Tees (6200 yards)
- Boys 15-17 / Men 65 & under with handicap 10 or above – White Tees (5800 yards)*

Scorers Area: Players are responsible for checking their score and their competitor’s score upon completion of play. Scorecards are still to be signed, attested and submitted at the scoring table immediately after play for score verification.
Rules Committee: The tournament rules committee will have the final decision on all rulings on the golf course.
