ABOUT THE CHAMPIONSHIP
STROKE PLAY
The first stage of the Championship, known as the NSW Medal (Men) and NSW Strokeplay (Women), will be stroke play over two rounds of 18 holes (36 holes), one round to be played at the Belmont GC and one to be played at Pacific Dunes GC.
The first round will be played on Tuesday 30 January and the second round on Wednesday 31 January.
The field shall be divided between the Belmont GC and Pacific Dunes GC on each of the first two days with players changing venues for the second round.
The leading male player at the end of all stroke play rounds, shall be awarded the 2024 NSW Medallist.
The leading female player at the end of all stroke play rounds, shall be awarded the 2024 NSW Stroke Play Championship.
In the event of a tie, those players will compete over such holes as the Championship Committee determines in sudden-death play-off.
MATCH PLAY
The leading 32 male players and leading 16 female players (who have qualified from the Stroke Play) will compete in the match play stage of the Men’s and Women’s NSW Amateur Championship to be played at Belmont GC from Thursday 1 February to Saturday 3 February.
In the event of a tie such that more than 16 female or 32 male players have qualified from the Stroke Play, those players tying for the last qualifying position or positions will compete over such holes as the Championship Committee determines in a sudden-death play-off.
The Men’s playoff will be at Belmont GC on Wednesday 31 January immediately following the 2nd Round until 32 qualifiers have been determined.
The women’s playoff will be at Pacific Dunes GC on Wednesday 31 January immediately following the 2nd Round until 16 qualifiers have been determined.
Once the qualifiers have been determined, for the purposes of determining places in the Match Play Draw, the “General Numerical Draw” published by Golf Australia will be used (i.e. the lowest qualifier is No 1, the second-lowest No 2, and so on).
For the purposes of determining places in the Match Play Draw, ties at the end of the qualifying rounds other than those qualifying for the last place will be decided by a blind draw.
The Draw for the first day’s matches will be available online at www.golfnsw.org.au shortly after the qualifiers are determined and will be emailed / SMS to players who have qualified.
Results and subsequent draws will also be available online at www.golfnsw.org.au and emailed / SMS to players who have progressed.
MEN’S NSW CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS
The Men’s NSW Club Champion of Champions event is played in conjunction with the NSW Medal.
The event will be 36 holes of stroke play. The first round will be played on Tuesday 30 January and the second round on Wednesday 31 January at Belmont GC and Pacific Dunes GC.
The leading eligible player(s) at the end of the completed stroke play rounds shall be crowned the 2023 Men’s NSW Club Champion of Champions.
