2. Format & Conditions of Entry
This SA Senior Tour (SAST)/Fidelity Pro-Am will be played in accordance with the rules and regulations as set out by the R&A in a 36-hole Strokeplay event for all member professionals, who are 50 years of age or older on 12th October 2023. (18 holes being played on each of the days of the 12th and 13th October 2023 respectively). A teams’ event will run concurrently in a Four Ball Alliance competition consisting of one professional and three amateur partners on the 12th of October. On the 13th of October, all the professionals play without amateurs.
The Pro-Am field size will be limited to a maximum of 30 professionals and 90 amateurs, with the professionals playing off separate tees from the amateurs.
3. Entry Conditions, Exemptions for Entry into the Starting Field, Prize Fund (PF)
- Prize Fund for the 30 professionals accepted into the starting field: R150 000 minimum.
- All professionals will be paid for participating in the published PF list for this event.
- All professionals must enter through entries@seniortour.co.za.
- This is an order of merit event for professionals over 36- holes of stroke play.
- All amateurs are expected to enter through the Pro shop at Kingswood directly. Contact; Juane on 0861 72 71 70 or email golf@kingswood.co.za. Preference will be given to the amateurs in the region to enter by 28th September 2023.
- The club will do the tee time draw for the amateur entrants only. Six preferential times will be reserved for sponsors’ requests for professionals. The other 24 professionals will be seeded in order of their ranking on the 2023 list.
Exemptions for entrants-Pre-Q Details
- Only member senior professionals of SAST in good standing may enter.
- Preference will be given to members according to the ranking and exemption list of 2023 and invitations. (26 max)
- The starting field size will be limited to 30 professional entrants. In the event of there being more than 30 entries, a prequalifying round will be necessary at Blue Valley on the morning of 5th October 2023 to determine four(spots) into the starting line-up.
4. Practice Day and Practice Facilities
The official practice day is Wednesday, 11th October 2023 and is free for professionals only (Excluding Cart Fees). Players must book practice times through the Kingswood Pro shop on 0861 72 71 70.
The range balls are free of charge from 8am Wednesday 11th to 13th October 2023 for all professional competitors.
5. Registration
All exempt senior professional entrants are required to register with the SA Senior Tour by 18.00 on 10th October 2023. This may also be done by telephone/sms/email to the Senior Tour Financial Director on 083 2270840 or email: fd@seniortour.co.za or td@seniortour.co.za.
6. Entry Fee, Withdrawals and Refunds
- The Entry Fee for all professional entrants for the event is R850.00. This includes carts sharing for 12th October but excludes cart fees on the 13th of October 2023.
- Entries close – 28th September 2023 at 6pm.
- Professionals must enter and pay as per SAST Rules and Regulations.
- Withdrawals BEFORE 18:00 hours on 28th September 2023; a full refund will be possible.
- If a player is absent on the tee without notification, no refund will be given and a fine may be imposed. The Tournament Committee will decide on refunds from withdrawals after the closing date for entries on medical and compassionate grounds only.
- Once an entrant has teed off, refund of entry is not possible under any circumstances.
- The amateur entry fee is R850.00 per person payable directly to the Kingswood Golf Club at the course on the competition day or beforehand by EFT. Bank Details: Kingswood Golf Operations, Standard Bank Account Number 281864519, use your name as reference. Receipts will be issued. This fee includes green fee, cart fee, quarter house grab & go, a snack after your game as well as the competition fee.
- If a SAST member entrant is late on the tee, when called upon to start, the player shall be disqualified after an absence of 5 minutes and will not participate in the professional prize fund. The R&A rule 5-3a will apply for duration of this fun event. He will however be able to play with his team in the teams’ competition and win a prize.
7. Accommodation, Catering, Hospitality
Accommodation options:
- For individuals or team members and their partners.
- All bookings and costs must be settled directly with the hotel or B&B.
- Preferential rates have been negotiation with the King George Protea Hotel by Marriot, located on King George Drive close to Kingswood for R950 per room (Single) or R1055 per room (Sharing), excluding breakfast. Bookings can be made via Kingswood (Contact Juane on 0861 72 71 70 or email golf@kingswood.co.za)
There will be complimentary snacks provided after play on Thursday for all participants at the prize giving, at the Club estimated to start at 6pm.
Kingswood has two Quarter Houses located at the 6th and 14th holes, which sells food and drink. A complimentary Grab & Go snack and soft drink will be available to all players on the course on the 12th October and these can be collected at the Quarter House during play. This will be a ‘grab & go’ for competitors, without causing undue delay. Complimentary water will also be provided each day.
8. Caddies, Motorised Carts
There will be no caddies available at the Club during the event, but those who prefer to walk the course must employ their own caddie.
All tee time groups will only be allowed two carts per group in the teams’ competition.
therefore, sharing may be necessary. This rule may change depending on cart availability.
Please check and book with the Pro shop.
Players may elect to walk and play using their own trolleys.
9. SA Senior Tour Rules and Regulations/Additional Local Rules
All SA Senior Tour rules, terms and conditions apply. Additional Local Rules will be available from the starter. Professional competitors are specifically asked to note:
a) One ball rule is applicable
b) Prohibitions on practice putting (Pros)
c) Play suspensions in a dangerous situation requires an immediate stop for all players.
d) Distance devices may be used
10. Golf Tee-Times/ Draws
- There will be SA Senior Tour staff on the Event Committee.
- The Tournament Director (TD) is still to be advised. In the event of a disputed rule, the TD’s decision will be final.
- The draw for the first round will be made available on site and on the Senior Tour website from 6pm on Monday, 9th October 2023. WhatsApp’s or SMS’s will also be sent to competitors advising of the same.
- Tee times on Thursday will be from 10:00am and from 8am on Friday.
11. Play Off and Completion of the Event
In the event of a tie for first place amongst the professionals, there will be a play- off
using the 1st and 9th holes until a winner is established.
In the event of a tie(s) in the Teams section, prizes will be decided by
a count-out.
- Best last round in the 36-hole totals
- Then best last 18/9 holes where applicable
- Then best last 6 holes
- In another way by the TD if the above remains unsolved
The event will be considered closed by the TD when all scores are recorded and the winners
have been established.
If the Teams’- day is not completed, the TD will decide on further procedures and details after consultation with the event committee.
12. Prize giving
Prize giving for the Pro-Am and main event will be done at the clubhouse within 15 minutes after the last group has finished. This prize-giving attendance is compulsory for all the professionals, and for the top 5 professionals on the day 2 prize giving.
There will be 4 team prizes and closest to pins on all the short holes and a longest drive on a
hole 17.
In the event of a tie(s) for the team prizes, these will be done by scorecard count outs as
decided in point 11 above by the TD.
13. Team Event
- The team competition is an Alliance Stableford format with 2 scores to count on each hole, where the professionals play off a scratch handicap and their amateur partners (male or female) off their official club handicaps. The Alliance score is recorded on each hole. Ladies may play from the forward tees as per the golf course design and their scorecard stroking.
- The current Golf RSA handicapping format will apply off the chosen coloured tee markers, less 15%.
