EVENT OVERVIEW

 

Welcome to the Capital City Amateur Tour! 

 

A type 2 golf club and the most popular Amateur Tour in Ohio and surrounding areas with over 600+ members!

 

Players will compete against similar ability level golfers based on their most current handicap in the most equitable and fairest competition -- gross & net contests!
You will also earn valuable points towards the season long points race to be crowned Champion Golfer of the Year!

 

The Memorial at Oglebay will be the 1st of 5 events on the 2024 tour season that will be a "local major".  Points will be worth double per the Capital City point system.

 

YOUR GROSS SCORE (POINTS)

 

-Players are flighted based upon tournament index/handicap and gross score will earn points in a season long points race to be crowned 2024 Flight Champion Golfer of the Year.

-Prize fund and trophy are awarded at the conclusion of the 2024 Tour Championship.

-3 Divisions (Open, Senior and Super Senior) makeup the 6 flights in each for a total of 18 flights.

-Each 2024 Flight Champion is then eligible to compete in the All-Ohio Champion Golfer of the Year at Pinnacle Golf Club Sept 28, 2024.

-Reward members are eligible for top prize of $1,000; non-members $500

 

YOUR NET SCORE (TOURNAMENT TROPHY + PRIZE FUND)

 

The tournament prize fund is included in the entry fee and varies each tournament ranging between $20-$50 per player. For award of the tournament prize fund, players will be divided into 2 "divisions":

 

-One division will consist of players with 5+ or more tournament rounds on Capital City Am Tour since 4.1.2023, and subsequently divided into 3 "pools" (e.g. 1, 2, 3) based on playing handicaps from a formula using 80% of the player(s) Capital City Am Tour handicap index, which is adjusted based on tee assignments created for every 20 players; 3 pool max.

 

Example: if 78 players are entered, then each pool will have 26 players with Pool 1 = lowest 26 playing handicaps, Pool 2 = middle 26 playing handicaps, Pool 3 = highest 26 playing handicaps awarding ~25% of pool participants -- see 'Prize Fund Matrix' under 'Tournament Information' for more info

 

-One division will consist of players with 4- or less tournament rounds on Capital City Am Tour since 4.1.2023, combining "All" players and using 80% of their verifiable handicap (new player) or tournament rounds posted on the Capital City Am Tour

Example: if 16 players qualify, then this pool will be titled "Low Net Pool "All" -4 = 80%" awarding ~25% of pool participants -- see 'Prize Fund Matrix' under 'Tournament Information' for more info

 

All 4 net pool winners will receive a trophy and a VISA gift card <or> opt to receive a VISA gift card that includes the trophy expense.

 

All payouts are in the form of a gift card or Capital City Am Tour certificate in accordance with USGA rules of Amateur Status.  Award amounts of either prize can be applied towards, but not limited to, future tournament entry, credits for practice rounds or purchases in the Capital City Am Tour store, etc.

 

SERIES EVENTS (POINTS)

 

THE OGLEBAY event is a tour stop on all series events in the OH-SOUTH, NORTH and CENTRAL series and #4 & 5 of 16 overall tournament rounds during the 2024 Championship season.

 

Eligibility to reward members only, players are pooled together, applying 80% handicap based on tee assignments and will earn points in a season long points race to be crowned the 2024 Travelers Champion.  Players do not need to designate a 'home series'. (North, Central, South)  The series prize fund and trophy are awarded to top 3 finishers in each series at the 2024 Tour Championship.  9 players will qualify to compete in the 2024 All-Ohio Travelers Championship at Pinnacle Golf Club, September 28, 2024

TOURNAMENT ENTRY FEE ($150)

Overall entry will vary based on the lodging and travel plans of the player.  At minimum, the tournament deposit entry fee of $150 includes the 2-day prize fund, trophy to the winner of each flight, EOY trophy & player prize fund and scoring.  All entries are on a first come, first served basis.

 

SOCIAL ENTRY FEE ($ rack rate)

Optional entries in 2024 include a "Social" entry where golfer is ineligible to compete for trophy, tournament points or prize fund.

 

SOCIAL entry does not require a handicap, age or flight assignment to play; unless competing for optional side games.  This option allows for a golfer to participate within the tournament event simply with a chance to play the course, be introduced to a great member group and get a feel of a Capital City tournament event.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Cancel any time up to close of registration with no penalty.

After registration closes, courses require 'hard' number.  If you request cancellation AFTER registration closes, a refund may not be available.
