Gruesome Twosome Format and Rules

  • 2 person teams, playing in foursomes.

  • Both players on team tee off on each hole.

  • Opposing team selects which drive must be played for your next shot and they are duty bound to the field to select the worst drive.

  • In all cases, after the worst drives are chosen, both sides then proceed in a regular 2 person scramble format until the ball is holed.

  • Standard USGA Stroke-and-Distance Relief for Ball Lost or Out of Bounds.  For example, player A's first shot from the teeing area is in the middle of the fairway.  Their partner, player B's first shot from the teeing area is Out of Bounds.  The opposing team is obligated to select player B's tee shot which will be subject to stroke-and-distance relief with one penalty stroke and playing another ball from where the previous stroke was made.  The team of player A and B will then start their scramble by playing their third shot from the teeing area.

  • Double bogey / two over par maximum score per hole.
