Memorandum to Players

 

PLAYER REGISTRATION & DRESS CODE

  • All 2018 Clark’s Pump-n-Shop Kentucky Amateur competitors must register with the tournament committee on site at Hunting Creek Country Club by 7:00 p.m. EDT on Monday, June 18, 2018. The player registration is located in the clubhouse. Player registration will be open on Monday from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. EDT.

PLEASE STOP IN AND REGISTER PRIOR TO YOUR PRACTICE ROUND STARTING TIME

 

*Competitors unable to register during these times must notify Bill Coomer, Director, Competitions by phone (502) 649-7980 or (502) 243-8295 no later than 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 18th.

Players failing to register or to notify the Director by the above deadline

are subject to replacement by alternates.


DRESS CODE & FOOTWEAR POLICY

  • During the official practice round on Monday, June 18th and all competition rounds, all players must observe the official dress code by wearing slacks or shorts and shirts with either standard collars or a mock turtleneck style (no denim material). All shirts must be tucked in. Hunting Creek CC is a non-metal spike facility. Caddies must follow all dress codes applying to contestants.

 

FORMAT

  • The championship is scheduled to be a 54-hole stroke play competition. There will be a cut to the low 70 players and ties after the first 36 holes of competition. Starting times and pairings for the third round, which will use one wave of players using Hole #1 & #10, will be determined by scores and are subject to change by the committee. In the event there is a tie for first place at the end of the final round, the hole by hole playoff procedures will be used and announced at the championship site.

 

PRACTICE ROUND

  • Practice rounds for the 2018 Clark’s Pump-n-Shop Marathon Kentucky Amateur will be available by calling the Hunting Creek Golf Shop (502) 228-8129 beginning on Monday, June 3rd, 8:00 a.m. EDT for competitors only. Alternates do not have playing privileges on the official practice round day, Monday, June 18th until being invited into the championship field. Players must identify themselves as Kentucky Amateur Championship contestants. Practice rounds may be scheduled from 12:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. The #1 tee will close at this time for maintenance needs. Additional practice rounds are at the discretion of Hunting Creek and applicable fees may apply.
  • PLAYERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO USE A ONE SHOT ROUTINE FOR PRACTICE ROUNDS TO ALLOW ALL PARTICIPANTS TIME TO COMPLETE THEIR PRACTICE ROUND.

 

PRACTICE RANGE

  • Practice Range hours of operation: Opens at 11:00 a.m.

All days > 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Mat use only after the rounds’ last tee time commences.

Practice balls are complimentary until each day of competition during the championship week.

 

GOLF COURSE SET-UP

  • The yardage selected for the championship set-up will be approximated at 7000 - 7100 yards, depending on weather conditions, etc.

 

CART USAGE & CADDIES

  • Cart Fees: $20.00 (tax inclusive) per rider for each day.

Automotive transportation is permitted for this competition. Competitors using carts should be familiar with the USGA Rule 6-4 and Decision 6-4/2.5, which addresses the use of caddies and automotive transportation. During the competition, only two carts per group will be allowed. Players in each group must make arrangements to comply with this condition.

  1. Cart privileges are subject to the player/caddy abiding by the club’s policy concerning movement and location of cart traffic. Carts may be restricted to areas designated during the official starter’s announcements prior to the stipulated round. Players are responsible to abide by these regulations.
  2. There are NO Spectator Carts available at this championship.

 

The use of caddies is allowed for all players and during all rounds of play. There is no restriction as to the relation or gender of the caddie. Players are subject to any penalties involving their caddies, equipment or automated cart in their possession.

 

DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES / ONE BALL RULE

  • The tournament committee has approved the use of USGA conforming Distance Measuring Devices for this competition. Measuring devices must conform to Decision 14-3/0.5 on page 214 of the Decisions on the Rules of Golf 2016-2017. The One Ball rule is not in effect.

 

GROOVE & MARKING CONDITION

  • This competition will not be including the “Groove Policy” adopted by the USGA for play in 2010.

 

FOOD & BEVERAGE

  • Hunting Creek Country Club will open each day at 7:30 a.m. and accepts cash and credit cards for all food & beverage transactions. Players are welcome to use the clubhouse facilities during the championship week. All players will receive information concerning the food and beverage arrangements at registration. Food service will be available in the grill and restaurant throughout the week of the championship.

 

STARTING TIME PROCEDURES

  • Clocks indicating the official time will be placed at the practice range, practice putting green and the first and tenth tees. No public announcement will be used for calling players to the tee. Competitors are expected to be on the tee, ready to play, when the first name in the group is called by the committeeman on the tee. A player who is not ready to play when the first name is called will be penalized two strokes, and if after five minutes, is either not present or not ready, will be disqualified. (USGA Decision 6-3a/2). It is suggested that all players be on their designated starting tee up to a minimum of 5 minutes prior to their tee times.

 

SCORECARD RETURN

  • Players are required to return their scorecard to the committee as soon as possible upon completion of their stipulated round.

 

PAIRINGS AND TIMES

  • Pairings and starting times for the 1st and 2nd roundswill be available on Wednesday, June 13th. Competitors who start their 1st round on Tuesday morning will begin play of round two in the afternoon on Wednesday and vice versa. Please review your starting times carefully.

 

ETIQUETTE AND PACE OF PLAY

  • All contestants will be held to a high standard of etiquette and responsibility concerning the care and maintenance of the host club’s facilities and golf course. You shall repair ball marks, rake bunkers, replace divots and or fill with sand, and respect the property of others. Any contestant or caddie not abiding by these regulations shall be subject to loss of privileges in future KGA activities.

 

Pace of Play guidelines shall be implemented for use during each of the competition rounds. Golf House Kentucky Rules Officials have been charged to apply the guideline procedures when deemed necessary. If your pairing group is found to be out of position, an official will notify you of the occurrence. It is your responsibility to re-establish yourselves in the correct place on the golf course as quickly as possible. Further directives will include warnings, timing and penalties. Please help make this tournament as enjoyable as possible for everyone by keeping your pace of play within these guidelines.
