Ocean Shores Country Club – Additional Local Rules

 

(To be read in conjunction with the GA and JNJG Local Rules and Condition of Competition Sheet and the Rules of Golf as adopted by the R&A)

  1. OUT OF BOUNDS
    1.1. Ground beyond white stakes with black tops or OOB signs.
    1.2. Where OOB is marked on holes bounded by water (13th & 16th), the water’s edge defines OOB.

     
  2. PENALTY AREAS (Rule 17)
    1. All penalty areas are red penalty areas. Margins of penalty areas are marked lines around water’s edge and red stakes.
       
  3. IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (Rule 16)
    1. All Stakes and flora ID Posts (not including flora)
    2. All hoops, buggy or cart directional signs, ropes, and stakes supporting ropes.
       
  4. ABNORMAL COURSE CONDITION (Rule 16.1)
    1. Areas of bare earth on fairways, not including divots.
    2. Any bunker with a white stake may be treated as GUR. It is not compulsory and the ball can be played as it lies or relief can be taken at the nearest point of relief outside the bunker.
       
  5. TREES & SHRUBS
    1. Staked Trees and shrubs are no play zones and are ground under repair (the GUR includes any stakes and/or protective guards. Relief MUST be taken in accordance with 16.1b
       
  6. PROVISIONAL BALL – 2ND HOLE (R&A Model Local Rule 8-B3)

If a player does not know whether his or her ball is in the Red Penalty Area to the right of the 2nd fairway, the player may play a provisional ball under Rule 18.3, which is modified in this way:

In playing a provisional ball, the player may use any of the 3 relief options set out in Rule 17.1d. Once the player has played a provisional ball under this rule, he or she may not use any further options under rule 17.1 in relation to the original ball. In deciding when that provisional ball becomes the players ball in play, or if it must or may be abandoned Rule 18.3c(2) and 18.3c(3) apply except that:

If the original ball is found in the Penalty Area within the 3-minute search time.

The player may choose either to:

- Continue to play the original ball as it lies in the Penalty Area in which case the provisional ball must not be played.

- Continue to play the provisional ball – the original ball must not be played.

When the original ball is not found within the 3-minute search time or is known or virtually certain to be in the Penalty Area:

The provisional ball becomes the player’s ball in play.

In the case of a player being unable to gain assistance from one of the numbers above, the player may proceed in accordance with the procedure outlined in Rule 20.1c(3) of the Rules of Golf and nominate to play a second ball. The player must report the facts of the situation to the Committee before returning the scorecard, even if the player scores the same with both balls.

 

UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, THE PENALTY FOR BREACH OF A LOCAL RULE IS THE GENERAL PENALTY:
