Byron Bay Golf Club – Additional Local Rules


(To be read in conjunction with the JNJG & GNSW Local Rules Hard Card and the Rules of Golf as adopted by the R&A)

 

  1. PENALTY AREAS (Rule 17)
    1. Red Penalty Areas are defined by red stakes and / or BLACK line.
    2. NO PLAY ZONE – 1ST HOLE. The area within the practice fairway penalty area, defined by red stakes with black tops and / or black lines, adjacent to the right of the fairway on Hole 1 and adjacent to the right of the fairway on Hole 4 is a NO PLAY ZONE. When a ball is in the NO PLAY ZONE within the penalty area, the ball must not be played as it lies and relief must be taken from interference by the NO PLAY ZONE under Rule 17.1e (with penalty of one stroke).
       
  2. IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (Rule 16)
    1. All concrete / hailstones / gravel paths / concrete headers on drainage pipes / fixed sprinkler heads / permanently fixed posts and signs / protective fences / constructed bridges / staked trees / sand repositories, bucket holders, garbage bins and ball washers / steps in bunkers (drop in bunker) / domes on fairway to indicate distances.
       
  3. ABNORMAL COURSE CONDITION (Rule 16)
    1. Areas within wooden borders and adjacent to teeing grounds, and those defined by “Garden Area” signs are abnormal course conditions. All other garden beds and beautification areas are integral parts of the course and in play.
       
  4. TREES & SHRUBS
    1. Staked Trees and shrubs are no play zones and are ground under repair (the GUR includes any stakes and/or protective guards. Relief MUST be taken in accordance with 16.1b
       
  5. On Course Enquiries

    In the case of a player being unable to gain assistance from one of the numbers above, the player may proceed in accordance with the procedure outlined in Rule 20.1c(3) of the Rules of Golf and nominate to play a second ball. The player must report the facts of the situation to the Committee before returning the scorecard, even if the player scores the same with both balls.

 

UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, THE PENALTY FOR BREACH OF A LOCAL RULE IS THE GENERAL PENALTY:
