2023 Ballina Junior Masters
Ballina Golf Club – Additional Local Rules
(To be read in conjunction with the JNJG & GNSW Local Rules Hard Card and the Rules of Golf as adopted by the R&A)
- Formed Gardens and Staked Trees
If they interfere with a players stance or swing, the ball must be lifted without penalty and dropped in accordance with Rule 16.1b
- Green Keepers Area
Including cart sheds and turf nurseries are defined as “No Play Zones” free relief as per Rule 16.1b.
- Power lines, pole and stays
If struck by a ball the shot MUST be replayed without penalty as per Rule 14.6
- Immovable Obstructions
Wooden and Concrete sleepers, stakes, wooden bollards, satellite boxes, poles and
stays, maintained hedges, and netting, poles and stays (9th fairway) are immovable
obstructions, free relief as per Rule 16.1b
- Exposed tree roots and rock
If a player's ball is at rest in a portion of the general area cut to fairway height or less and there is interference from exposed tree roots and embedded rock, the tree roots and embedded rock are treated as ground under repair. The player may take free relief under Rule 16.1b. (But interference does not exist if the tree roots or exposed embedded rock only interfere with the player's stance)
- Washouts and rake holders in bunkers
May be treated as an abnormal course condition, with free relief under Rule 16.1c (1), or by penalty relief under Rule 16.1c (2).
- Dropping stakes in red penalty areas
Adjacent 11th and 16th greens define areas where penalty relief can be taken nearer the hole, when relief no closer the hole cannot be achieved. Other penalty relief options are also available under Rule 17.
- Roads and paths
There is no relief from roads and pathways which are not formed or do not have artificial surfaces.
- Temporary Local Rules
Are displayed on the board adjacent the 1st and 10th tees.

In the case of a player being unable to gain assistance from one of the numbers above, the player may proceed in accordance with the procedure outlined in Rule 20.1 of the Rules of Golf and play a second ball.

Scoring Area
A player’s scorecard is deemed officially returned to the Committee when the player has left the designated scoring area.
Tee Markers
- White Tees – All Boys Divisions
- Red Tees – All Girls Divisions
Distance Markers on Fairways
- Red – 100m to middle of green
- Yellow – 150m to middle of green
- Blue – 200m to middle of green
(all sprinkler head distances are also measured to the middle of the green)
Flag Colours on Green
- Red – Front of Green
- Black / White – Middle of Green
- Blue / Yellow – Back of Green
Maximum Shot
- At all JNJG Tour event there is a 10 shot maximum, you must pick up after 10 strokes.
BBQ
All players competing in the Ballina Junior Masters will be given a food / drink voucher to use on each day.
Players MUST use their vouchers at the BBQ between these times.
- Sunday - Lunch will be open from 9:30am to 12:30pm
- Monday – Lunch will be provided after play concludes.
Coffee
Barista brewed coffee and food can be purchased under the awning adjacent to the putting green on both Sunday and Monday.
