The Valentine Invitational is one of the most prestigious and longest-running amateur events in the Mid-Atlantic region. Hermitage Country Club has hosted the Valentine since the event began in 1931. Past champions of the Valentine include Virginia Golf Hall of Famers Vinny Giles, Keith Decker, David Partridge and Richard Smith. Other notable champions include Richmond golf legend Nelson Broach and the father-son duo of Mark Lawrence and Mark Lawrence, Jr. Participants have previously competed in The Masters, the US Open, the US Senior Open, the US Amateur, the US Mid-Amateur, and countless other USGA, VSGA and elite amateur golf events across the country.

 

The Valentine is an official World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) and Virginia State Golf Association (VSGA) points event.

Brandon Ramsuer (Richmond, VA) won the championship division of the 2022 Valentine Invitational with a 54-hole total of 205 (-11). Ramsuer's total included a second-round 64 (-8) on the Manakin course, which tied the tournament 18-hole scoring record. Ramsuer will be back in 2023 to defend his title. Jon Hurst (Fredericksburg, VA) fired rounds of 71-69-70 (210, -6) to take home the 2022 senior division and successfully defend his 2021 senior division title. Hurst will also be back in 2023 seeking his third straight victory in the senior division.
