Kiama and Links Shell Cove – Additional Local Rules
(To be read in conjunction with the JNJG & GNSW Local Rules Hard Card and the Rules of Golf as adopted by the R&A)
30cm preferred lies on the fairways only (ball must be marked before taking preferred lie)
- OUT OF BOUNDS (Rule 18.2)
- Beyond the inside points, at ground level, of any line of white stakes with black tops and includes the carpark areas and practice putting green.
- Federal Avenue is out of bounds and a ball coming to rest on, or beyond Federal Avenue is out of bounds even though it may lie on another part of the course.
- PENALTY AREAS (Rule 17)
- Red Penalty Areas are defined by red stakes, lines or plates.
- Yellow Penalty Areas are defined by yellow stakes, lines or plates
- ABNORMAL COURSE CONDITION – INCLUDING IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (Rule 16)
- Ground Under Repair
3.1.1. In the General Area, ground affected by tree roots on surfaces cut to fairway height or less. Interference does not exist if the tree roots only interfere with the player's stance. - Immovable Obstructions
- All stakes defining GUR, Penalty Areas, Distances
- All artificially surfaced roads & paths (includes gravel paths)

- ABNORMAL COURSE CONDITION – NO PLAY ZONE (Rule 16.1f)
- The area near the Green Keepers Shed defined by white stakes and/or lines is a no play zone that is to be treated as an abnormal course condition. Free relief MUST be taken from interference by the no play zone.
- All garden beds formed with boarders are no play zones that are to be treated as an abnormal course condition. Free relief MUST be taken from interference by the no play zone. When the ball is in the garden behind the 7th or 16th greens as an additional relief option the player may use the Dropping Zone (see local rule #9 for rules relating to the use of Dropping Zones). All other planted native areas are integral objects and no free relief is available.
- PENALTY AREA – NO PLAY ZONE (Rule 17.1e)
- The ornamental garden behind the 8th green is a No Play Zone. When a ball is in the no play zone within the penalty area, the ball must not be played as it lies and relief MUST be taken from interference by the no play zone either
- Under stroke and distance (see Rule 17.1d(1)), or
- As an additional option a ball may be dropped in the marked Dropping Zone under penalty of one stroke (see local rule #6 for rules relating to the use of Dropping Zones).

- DROPPING ZONES
- When the player is using the dropping zone, the ball must be dropped in the dropping zone and it must come to rest in the dropping zone. The margin of the dropping zone is defined as 2 club-lengths from the white post.
UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, THE PENALTY FOR BREACH OF A LOCAL RULE IS THE GENERAL PENALTY:

Kiama Golf Club – Tournament Information
- Scorecard Return and Tournament Office
- A player’s scorecard is deemed officially returned to the Tournament Committee when the player has left the tournament office. Once the player has left the tournament office, no changes may be made to the scorecard.
- Players MUST move straight from the 18th green to the tournament office to complete and sign their scorecards.

- In the case of a player being unable to gain assistance from one of the numbers above, the player may proceed in accordance with the procedure outlined in Rule 20.1c(3) of the Rules of Golf and nominate to play a second ball. The player must report the facts of the situation to the Committee before returning the scorecard, even if the player scores the same with both balls.
- Players may call the following numbers and either a rules official or member of the Tournament Committee will attend if possible:
- Maximum Score Format of Play (Rules of Golf Rule 21.2)
- Maximum Score is a form of stroke play where a player’s score for a hole is capped a maximum number of strokes set by the committee. At JNJG Junior Masters Events and U12 Tour, the maximum score for any hole is 10 strokes.
- Parents, Spectators and Bag Pusher Guidelines
- There are no caddies allowed at any JNJG Tour Event. Players competing in the Boys and Girls 11 Years and Under Divisions can have someone walk the course with them and act as a “Bag Pusher”, with the primary role to be helping the entire group (not just their own player) with Pace of Play. See the JNJG Parents, Spectator and Bag Pusher guidelines for more details.
- Player Food and Drink
- All players will be given something to eat and drink on both days. This is to be collected from the BBQ area between the hours of 8:00am and 1:00pm or from the pro-shop outside of these times. It is the player’s responsibility to ensure they collect their food at a time when the BBQ will be operational. For those players teeing off after approx. 11:00am on both days, they are encouraged to collect their food prior to starting the round.

Make sure you keep up with the group in front, carry and use a sand bucket to replace divots, and fix all pitch marks on the greens. Let’s leave the course in the same condition as when we arrived!!
