DINING AND ACTIVITY RECOMMENDATIONS

NON-GOLFING PARTNERS

During the welcome dinner on Sunday evening, we will aim to help everyone (players and their partners) get to know each other. We will aim to bring nametags/labels for everyone, and will make a point of including the Non-Golfing Partners. We want EVERYONE to have fun. So if you feel like introducing yourself to others, please feel free!

Aside from the Welcome and Farewell Dinners, it is up to you to make your own dining arrangements. We have compiled a few recommendations from staff members, based upon previous trips. IMPORTANT: we HIGHLY recommend booking tables well in advance, as past staff shortages in Queenstown have meant limited seating in some restaurants. Better safe than sorry.

RESTAURANT RECOMMENDATIONS:

Pig & Whistle and the 1876 Pub

Both have decent meals in a pub-like atmosphere. Very close to the Ramada (Just down the hill)

Middle of town:

Ferg burger

Outstanding burgers. Famous for the queues (but they move fast). Worth the wait. No seating, but you can take your burger to your room, or eat by the water, etc.

Marcos (Mexican)

Shared-plates style. Higher-end than tacos/etc. Food excellent.

Fat Badger Pizza. MASSIVE pizza. Basic but tasty.

Hell Pizza: A Boutique pizzaria. Better selections.

Captains Restaurant: Steaks/Fish & Chips, etc. Food good.

Cookietime: For dessert (or just an afternoon snack), this place is world-famous. Trust us.

Edge of town:

The Bavarian (Near the Gondola)

German-style food (Sausages, etc). Location: near the gondola, so a 10min walk up the hill from Crowne. Very good atmosphere, but perhaps not enough variety of food for Gluten-free, meat-free, etc.

ACTIVITIES
We highly recommend the Shotover Jet - fast boats that zoom up the canyons (we recommend this option), or (alternately) on the lake itself.

Other activities include

  • the Skippers Canyon Boats
  • tours to Milford Sound (all-day, but worth it), or
  • Hop-on-hop-off winery tour (i.e. to Arrowtown, etc).

These can all be booked in town, at a variety of places.
