Welcome New Members!
Thank you for your interest in the Coal Creek Men's Golf Association (CCMGA). Our club was established in 1990, and has an active membership who enjoy competition, camaraderie, and having fun. We offer a wide variety of formats and events including leagues, tournaments, team and individual events, and bracket tournaments that last throughout the season.
If you are over the age of 18, enjoy golf, meeting new people, and are a person of integrity, we welcome you to the CCMGA. As part of your $125 membership fee, you will get a GHIN handicap (normally $50), have access to all of the events we offer, be eligible for all of the awards (including Player of the Year, Rookie of Year, Most Improved Player), and be invited to our social events (including indoor winter league, Fantasy Football, NCAA bracketology, and the annual awards ceremony). We have a New Member Orientation and Kick-Off Party scheduled for March 23rd at 4pm, Location: Angry Horse Eatery.
We hope you can join us!
Virtually all tournaments are flighted, which means you’ll be playing with and against players who have handicaps similar to yours. You are not obligated to play all, or a specific number of the tournaments. The events are optional, so just play when you can.
We encourage new members to take a few minutes to click on the links below, read some information about the club and the rules of golf. The more familiar you are with the information provided, the easier your first year will be. We recognize that, as rookies, you may not already have an intimate knowledge of the rules of golf, and we are here to help. Please feel free to ask members if you have questions. Ultimately, it is up to you to learn the rules, and know your options when you are on the course. We encourage all of our players to watch videos (provided below) and read about the rules before your first event, and brush up throughout the season.
Please note, if you are only interested in joining CCMGA for the Tuesday Night League (TNL), read the information below before you sign up. TNL has limited availability, and returning teams have priority for the spaces available.
Things to know before your first round:
1. Please download the GHIN app on your phone. You are required to post all of your scores for casual play, either on the GHIN app or on the GHIN.com website, to keep your index up-to-date. Post scores on the day you play.
2. Please also download the Golf Genius app on your phone, which is required for CCMGA tournaments, prior to playing in any club event.
3. Please note that you should not enter your scores for CCMGA events (including TNL) into GHIN. The tournament committee will do that for you.
4. When entering scores, please enter them using the provided hole-by-hole method in the GHIN app. This will ensure that the maximum net double bogey hole score is applied. Do not enter an “X” in either app if you pick up your ball. Enter the score you would have likely gotten if you played out the hole.
5. GHIN is requiring everyone to set up a profile this year so that others cannot access and post scores for you simply by having your GHIN number. If you go to GHIN.com you should find instructions for creating the profile.
6. If you already had a GHIN number it will be renewed with your men's club membership.
7. DO NOT get a GHIN number through the golf course. If you did not previously have a GHIN number, we set one up for you as part of your men's club membership.
8. You can put in scores at any time provided the round is played during the official golf season in the state in which the round was played. Colorado considers November 15 thru March 14 to be off season and scores played in Colorado during those months cannot be posted.
9. If you have scores prior to Nov 15, 2022, you may post them to help establish your handicap, but make sure you get the dates correct. You should also post scores beginning March 15th for any round you play as the new system updates handicap indexes daily. Only three 18-hole scores are required to establish an index which you will need for tournament play. These scores can be any combination of 9 or 18 hole scores.
10. If you want to play ONLY in the Tuesday Night League, you should contact Guy Greenstein at guygreensteinlaw@gmail.com and inquire as to availability BEFORE you join the Men’s Club. The league is limited to 32 teams, and was full last year. There is always some attrition, and he can let you know the length of the waiting list and your options for getting in the league this season.
We are looking forward to a fun season, playing some competitive golf, and enjoying a beverage with the guys in the clubhouse at the "19th hole". If you have specific questions, please email: CCMGACO@gmail.com, or ask one of our board members.
Have a great season!
