Flighting:
The field has been divided into 12 Flights of 6 teams.  Your team has been placed into one of these flights based on the combined handicap index of you and your partner.  Each flight is named after PGA Tour Champions that have played in the Hudson Junior Invitational.  Handicaps for this event have been confirmed as of the July 10th U.S.G.A. Handicap Revision.

Format:
A Round Robin, consisting of five 9-hole best ball matches, will be played within each flight.
  All play will be from the Blue Tees.  Players ages 60 and older have the option to play the white tees or silver tees. Players ages 70 and older have the option to play the green tees.  (If you choose to play different tees you must declare at registration and play the same tees the whole event.  Course handicaps will be adjusted accordingly.)

Scoring:
Play will be on a “match play” basis.  Each match will be played as a better ball of two. (Four Ball Match Play off the low ball for handicap).  Scoring is based on a 1-point per hole basis:
            * 1 point will be awarded to the team which wins a hole
            * ½ point will be awarded to the team in the event of a tie
            * 1 additional point will be awarded to the team which wins the match
Teams cannot be “closed out”; 10 points will be awarded for each 9-hole match.  While 10 points are possible, for scoring purposes the committee has decided to limit the winner of the match to 8 points.  In the event of cancellation of the remainder of the event, the last completed 9-holes will be used; partially completed matches will not count.  Three fully completed 9-hole matches will constitute a compete tournament with flight prizes to be awarded on these results.

Play remains on the same nine on which you start a match.  In other words, if you start on hole fifteen, when you complete the eighteenth hole, proceed to the tenth hole and play through fourteen.

The flight winner will be the team that accumulates the most points over the five matches.  In the event of a tie for first place within a flight, the head-to-head match will determine the winner.  If the head-to-head match is tied, the winner will be determined by a chip off.

The Shootout:
Once the flight winners have been identified and wild card entry has been determined, they will be entered into a shootout to determine the overall Tournament Champions.  The shootout will begin after completion of matches on Saturday.  The shootout will be directed by the Club Professional.  If one team member cannot be present for the shootout, that team may be required to forfeit its right to participate in the shootout.  Format is Alternate shot in a shootout style event with all teams starting on Hole #15 at the same time.  50% of combined handicap will be used in the shootout.
Of the 13 teams beginning the shootout, the field will be narrowed to two as follows:
            * 6 Teams eliminated on Hole #15
            * 3 Teams eliminated on Hole #16
            * 2 Teams eliminated on Hole #17
            * Final 2 Teams on Hole #18
The remaining two teams will play Hole #18 to determine the overall Tournament Champion
If the last hole of the shootout is tied, Hole #18 will be replayed until a winner is determined.

(All other ties in shootout will be broken by a chip off)
Shootout Payout – 1st Place $2000   2nd Place $1000

Wild Card Entry
After all flight winners are determined, the team with the most points on the last day and did not win their flight will be entered into the shootout.   If there are ties a chip off will be used to gain entry.

UNMARKED PENALTY AREAS (Natural Areas):
All unmarked areas of native grass that border some holes, are considered penalty areas. These areas are not marked, however if a player’s ball comes to rest in these areas, players are entitled to relief, under penalty of one stroke. When the penalty area is not defined by lines, the natural boundary of the native area and golf course will define the margin of the penalty area. Under penalty of one stroke, the player may take two club-lengths from the spot where the ball last crossed the margin of the penalty area.

The embedded ball rule is in effect through the general area.  Tree stump holes that have been filled are considered ground under repair.
