Welsh Under 14's Championship

REGISTRATION

Opens: Wednesday, February 01, 2023 at 12:00 AM

Closes: Sunday, August 13, 2023 at 11:59 PM

Entry fee: Welsh U14 Championship Entry Fee 1 x £22.50 per Member

Payment: This event has a handicap ballot. Card payment information will be collected and authorised at the time of registration, but your card will not be charged until players are successful in the ballot and confirmed in our system. This will usually be within the first few days following the entry deadline. Please update your card details in your Golf Genius account if they change between entry and this time. 

Justin Rose Telegraph Junior Golf Championship qualifier: The first round winners gross score against course rating is used as the qualifying score and the top 12 qualifying scores in each category at the Justin Rose Telegraph Junior Golf Championship closing date will be invited to the final. 

 

SUMMARY

The under 14's Championship shall be open to male and female amateur golfers who meet the terms of competition available below.

 

Entry Qualifications

a) Entries will only be accepted from players who can meet one of the following criteria requirements:

i) Born in Wales;

ii) One of your parents was born in Wales;

iii) One of your grandparents was born in Wales;

iv) Resided in Wales for two years prior to day 1 of the Championship;

v) Previously represented Wales at Junior level in Home International Matches or European Team Championships or World Amateur Team Championships (players will be asked to provide evidence of this).

b) Entrants MUST NOT have played in the Men’s or Women’s Closed Championship of another country within the last two years or have ever played in the full international Team of another country.

c) Entries will only be accepted from players who were under 14 years of age at 00:00hrs on 1st January 2023.

d) Entries will only be accepted from players with an official WHS Handicap Index of 28.0 or less held at an affiliated club to their National Union, or overseas equivalent.

e) Entrants holding both a WHS Handicap and an overseas handicap must enter this Championship using their WHS Handicap Index.

f) A player who is eligible to enter the Under 14 Championship may choose to enter the Under 16 Championship instead (played at the same venue at the same day) if their handicap does not exceed 20.0 but may not play in both.

g) Failure to enter in accordance with this condition will result in entry being denied.

 

A maximum of 84 players will compete in the combined Under 16 & Under 14 Championships. Each of the two age categories will be limited to 42 players. However if one of the events is undersubscribed whilst the other is oversubscribed the number of players competing in the oversubscribed event may be increased subject to the overall number of players in the two events not exceeding 84 and the number of players in the U16 Championship not exceeding 64, held at Cardiff Golf Club. 

 

The under 16 Championship will be decided by 54 holes of stroke play, the winner will be the competitor who returns the lowest score over 54 holes.

 

The under 14 Championship will be decided by 36 holes of stroke play, the winner will be the competitor who returns the lowest score over 36 holes.
