2023 Competition Rules and Conditions

These Rules and Conditions are additional to the Rules on for Association Competitions

 

Format

  1. The competition is open to teams of three male amateur golfers. Results will be determined on the team aggregate of gross and nett scores over 18 holes stroke play. Team gross scores will take precedence over team nett scores.

 

Entry and Draw

  1. Clubs may enter as many teams as they wish and may enter teams for different venues. However, a team may not play in a regional event which is being held on its own course. Duly completed entry forms and fees to be returned as directed. Each club shall provide match contact details for their teams.

 

  1. There should be a maximum of 20 teams at any regional event. Clubs will be asked to indicate on the entry form at which of the regional qualifying venues they wish to play. Wherever possible teams will be allocated as requested, though should a venue be oversubscribed and unable to cater for the number of entries, a ballot shall take place (club shall be offered one or two spaces dependent on entries with a ballot for subsequent places). Those balloted out will be offered places at alternative venues.

 

  1. Once regional entries have closed, the make-up of each regional event will be confirmed by the NAPGC and clubs will be required to pay their green fees due and confirm their players. These must be received before the draw sheet issue date or teams will be excluded.  

 

Conditions of Play

  1. The maximum permitted handicap index is 18.0. Players with higher handicap indexes may play but they will be capped at this maximum limit.

 

  1. A player’s playing handicap shall be 95% of their course handicap.

 

  1. Score cards to be returned as directed by the NAPGC competitions committee.

 

  1. No one team can win or be placed in both gross and nett score sections of the competition. In qualification and at the national final finishing places shall be determined as follows: best gross; best nett; second best gross; second best nett.

 

  1. While player names are required to be submitted in advance of play, they can be substituted if necessary up until 15 minutes before play commences.

 

Qualification for National Final

  1. At each regional qualifying competition, the team with the lowest aggregate gross score and the team with the lowest aggregate nett score will qualify to play in the National Final. Up to 15 teams will be invited to the national final with the additional places allocated on a pro rate basis or as otherwise determined by the organising committee. This will be confirmed after entries have closed.

 

  1. Those clubs qualifying for the national final shall be duly notified after the regional qualifiers have been completed. Green fees for the national final which will be subsidised by the NAPGC but must be received as directed by the due date along with player details. These must be received before the draw sheet issue date or teams will be excluded.

 

Trophies and Prizes

  1. At the national final the team with the lowest aggregate gross score will be awarded the B-V Cup, of the remaining teams the one with the lowest aggregate nett score will be awarded the B-V Shield. These trophies to be held for one year.

 

  1. Players in the winning teams and the runners up teams will receive individual awards.

 

  1. The winners of the B-V Cup shall qualify to represent the NAPGC in the EG English Champion Club competition. (nb. Where the winners cannot guarantee attendance, in line with EG rules, this will be offered to the national runners up).
