Today’s game (9/12/23) is partner’s surprise – odds/evens. Pro shop will assign each partner as odd or even. You play your own ball throughout the round – every hole, record gross; golf genius will do the rest.
Bette thanked the members for doing a good job of rectifying the cards to golf genius. She reminded them to please save any changes you need to make. She also reminded the members to add putts; subtract handicap from gross to get net; circle chip-ins; not necessary to circle birdies; and sign scorecards!!!!!
Bette is looking for a volunteer to take over the playday chair position next year. She explained that it is not a difficult job and not too time consuming. If anyone would like that job they can reach out to Bette with any questions.
Pairings Chair: Bev Henderson
No report
Tournament Chair: Carrie Faulkner
There was not a big turnout at the last tournament. The club championship must have 8 players and will be flighted. The ladies will play the Forest, Island and Lake courses. There will be tee times and it will not be a shotgun start.
Kingwood is in first place for the interclub league and there are 2 matches left to play. Twenty seven people participated and two members played every match. Joan Rendl and Lisa Stoltz played every match. Brenda Candelet has earned the most points for the team.
Social Chair: MaryRose LeBus
There will be a lunch after the club championship and it will start at 1:00. There will be a cash bar and free mimosas included in the tournament.
Nine Hole Chair: Cheree Alexander
Nine holers are played even on September 12th.
Stuart Pilgrim had a rules clinic for the nine holers and did a great job.
The nine holers were given an option of participating in a two day or three day tournament for the nine hole club championship. It was still uncertain if we would have enough participants for the two day tournament. The two day tournament participants would not be eligible for the championship. There were about 16-17 participants signed up for the tournament.
President: Joan Rendl
Joan announced that since our last General Meeting held May 9 we have one new 18-Hole member: Molly McNulty
Current KWGA membership is 170. 59 9-Hole and 111 18-Hole members.
Joan reminded members if you haven’t seen it yet , please go over to the easel to look at the 18- hole Horse Race leaderboard to see the current status.
Joan urged everyone to be aware of how many course credits they have. There was a print-out sheet as of 9/1/23 at the 18- hole league check-in tent this morning. To be eligible for Year End Prizes everyone in 18-hole league needs to play each of the four courses twice and everyone in 9-hole league needs to play the front and back of each course on a Ringered playday. So encourage those of you that might not yet have the needed credits, to make an effort to sign up to play on days when we are playing the course you need. EVEN if it may not be your favorite course!
Nominating Committee for the 2024 Board has been formed. According to our By-Laws the NC shall be comprised of a Chairman, and a representative from each flight, which shall include the current KWGA President and the Fourth Vice-President (9-Hole Chair). No other board member shall serve on the Nominating Committee.

The NC will determine the slate so it can be posted to the membership by Oct 17, which is 2 weeks in advance of our Oct 31st General Meeting that we will vote. The new Board will be installed at the Year End Brunch which will be held on Dec 12.
The Officers of the KWGA shall be a President, First Vice-President, Second Vice-President, Third Vice-President, Fourth Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Social Chair. The Executive Committee shall have control of the management of the affairs, finances, property and policies of the KWGA, subject to the Constitution and By-Laws of the Association.
Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization, so will you say YES?
YES it is some work and responsibility to be on the Board.
YES it is also fun and maybe not as hard as you think it is.
YES it is a great opportunity to get to know fellow members better.
YES it is interesting to learn how the organization runs.
YES it is rewarding to be involved.
YES you will say YES when you get the call.
YES you want to help but we just don’t know it yet! Let myself or any Board member know that you are interested in helping and they can answer any questions about their positions.
And then aside from being on the Board, there are also committees that will need volunteers next year. So please don’t be shy, just say YES I want to be involved!
Special Presentation by Brooke from Project Mammogram.
Brooke from Project Mammogram gave a presentation. The Pink Event will be held October 24th and will be a fundraiser for Project Mammogram.
Project Mammogram provides mammograms for people that can’t afford them. The organization has helped a lot of people with diagnostic tests. 100% of the funds raised are kept in the area to help local women.
Bev Henderson is co chairing the event with Angie. Bev has made a quilt that will be auctioned off with the profits going to Project Mammogram.
TSWGA: There was a plug for the TSWGA Senior Women’s organization. Women over 50 can play and there are 18 flights.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:57 am.
