Results of Invited Pro-Lady tournament July 2023.

There were 25 teams playing this year from various Invited Clubs across Texas. They did one practice round on Sunday and then competed for 2 days, July 24 and 25 on the Lake and the Island courses. The teams consisted of 1 Pro and 4 ladies. Format was a Shamble with everyone driving, choosing the best drive and then everyone playing their own ball. The 3 lowest scores were entered and calculated into the final team score. It was Stableford scoring with 5 pts for Eagle, 3 pts for Birdie, 2 pts for Par, 1 pt for Bogey. Each team was assigned an initial quota of points for their team based on their handicaps. The winning points represent points earned above their quota.

Kingwood (to include Deerwood) had four teams entered. Congratulations to Kingwood team 3 - Dick Smith pro with Carrie Faulkner, Brenda Candelet, Loretta Ilges and Ginger Dieter for earning 34.5 points to come in fifth place!

Did you see the joke in the 7/28/23 Clubs of Kingwood Golf Update email?

Why did the golfer bring two pairs of pants to the golf course?

In case he got a hole in one!

And this is no joke.

Q: What happens if you unknowingly hole out a shot? For example, you catch your uphill approach shot thin, assume it went over the green, and search for 3 minutes but don’t find your ball. After going back to drop and play under stroke and distance, you eventually realize that your original approach shot actually ended up in the hole. What is the ruling?

A: Rule 6.5 is going to help you here! As soon as your original shot was holed, you had completed the hole, even though you did not know it at the time. You also get no additional penalty for playing the extra strokes in an attempt to correctly complete the hole.
