Correction to Rule posted in 7/6/23 newsletter:
USGA Golf rules:
- You must start and finish the hole with the same ball. Except when hitting the ball in a water hazard or losing it. You can replace a damaged ball, but advise your partners you are doing so. You may change balls between holes.
You may also change balls when taking free and penalty relief.
STANDINGS FOR HORSE RACE 2023

Member Portal/ Results/ Horse Race Standings as of 7/1/23
Accumulate points throughout the year by playing the KWGA regularly scheduled playdays. The ten players with the most points accumulated after our October 31, 2023 playday will be contenders.
POINTS AWARDED AS FOLLOWS.....
Points are awarded for individual net score on qualifying playdays. 10 points to the overall net winner for the day's game, 9 points for the second place winner, 8 points for the third, and so forth – and everyone gets 1 point just for playing on that playday!
RUNNING THE RACE …
The top ten participants/horses will compete on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 in a 9 hole tournament/luncheon.
Each horse will pick a jockey of their choosing, jockeys do not have to be KWGA members. Horses play each hole and a net score is recorded. The horse with the highest net score on a hole will be eliminated. In event of a tie on any hole, there will be a tie-breaker challenge to complete.

Summer Heat Tips – BE COOL.
- Drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated. Don’t wait until you are thirsty. Once you reach that point, you’re already dehydrated. Try taking a drink after every hole.
- Drink sports drinks with electrolytes when you are sweating for several hours.
- Avoid alcohol, high-caffeine and sugary drinks as they all can dehydrate you.
- Wear sunglasses and a hat to protect your eyes and the top of your head. Consider a wide-brimmed hat, long sleeves and moisture-wicking clothes.
- Apply and re-apply sun screen every two hours.
- Use your umbrella to provide shade from the sun.
- Use a towel doused in ice-cold water or a microfiber cooling towel to keep you refreshed.
- Be prepared and pack your favorite BE COOL items so you have them with you every time you golf in the Texas heat.
