June 20, 2023: MEMBER/MEMBER 6-6-6 TOURNAMENT Marsh Course*

•         Find a partner and sign up on Golf Genius as a 2 person team.

•         $10 per person entry fee – Member Charge

•         Gross and net prizes

•         Teams will be flighted

•         6-6-6 Format

•         Holes 1-6  Best Ball Format – both players play their own ball down and the best gross and net score is counted.  100% handicap in this section.

•         Holes 7-12 Modified Alternate Shot Format – both players hit their tee shots then select best drive and alternate shots until the ball is holed. The ball is played down once the second shot is in play.  Handicap is ½ of the combined handicaps for these holes.

•         Holes 13-18  Scramble – regular scramble rules apply.  Both players hit tee shots, select the best drive and both play their 2nd shot from that location within one club length (no closer to the hole).  This procedure is repeated until the ball is holed out.  Handicap is 35% of A player and 15% of B player for those holes.

•         This is a KWGA Tournament – NO ROOT RULE

•         No follow the field

•         If you need assistance in finding a partner – please contact Carrie Faulkner carrie.faulkner@yahoo.com.   It is just easier if we find partners before signing up.

Summer Heat Tips – BE COOL.

  • Drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated. Don’t wait until you are thirsty. Once you reach that point, you’re already dehydrated. Try taking a drink after every hole.

  • Drink sports drinks with electrolytes when you are sweating for several hours.

  • Avoid alcohol, high-caffeine and sugary drinks as they all can dehydrate you.

  • Wear sunglasses and a hat to protect your eyes and the top of your head. Consider a wide-brimmed hat, long sleeves and moisture-wicking clothes.

  • Apply and re-apply sun screen every two hours.

  • Use your umbrella to provide shade from the sun.

  • Use a towel doused in ice-cold water or a microfiber cooling towel to keep you refreshed.

  • Be prepared and pack your favorite BE COOL items so you have them with you every time you golf in the Texas heat.
