No regular Playday on Tues May 23, 2023.

KWGA Member Guest Tournament is May 23 - 24, 2023.

The committee has been working hard to plan this fun event and it is finally here!

The annual Spring Fling with theme Bees, Butterflies and Birdies.

 

They may still need help manning some activities. If you can volunteer a couple of hours either on Tues or Wed, contact Brenda Candelet to find out what slots are still needed to be filled.  candelet@aol.com  or  281-748-7911

 

 

 

Next Interclub is Thursday May 25 at Deerwood

There are 18 players signed up to play.

 

 

 

The course was wet and muddy, but we still played! 

Tuesday morning did not go as planned. With an early morning text from Tim advising us that holes 15-16 were impassable and there was no safe way to get to 17. No other option for courses with Marsh aerification, OFWW on Forest and Lake open for member play. We realized we would not be able to play our originally scheduled game of Stableford Points and have it count towards Ringers. And you need a legal 18- hole score for it to count as course credit. So instead decided we would just play for Playday winnings only and the game would be a Nine Hole Eclectic.

 

Everyone had to come with some extra patience with both 18-hole and 9-hole players all playing just the front 9 and Cart Path Only. But everyone seemed to keep a good pace of play even with the full course. Kudos!!

 

Many Thanks to Tim and Dick for their advise, for working out details of how to handle the situation initially and rearranging everything at the last moment.  We appreciate what they do for us each week for our KWGA events, and especially on a day when it all goes haywire!  

 

Thank you KWGA for being flexible, and for being out there to enjoy the game and the camaraderie, even when nature has other plans for us.

Congratulations go to Ginger for her Hole-in-One at Deerwood #8 on May 16, 2023. Even though it doesn’t count in our KWGA Hole-in-One club, we do want to acknowledge her achievement!

 

 

 

Calendar Look-Ahead for the 18 League

May 30, 2023: Playday game “Selective Nine” on the Marsh.

This is also a Guest Day (you may bring one guest – cannot be a COK member - they pay only cart fees. Guests do not participate in the game or the pots). 

 

• Shotgun start time 9:00am. Check-in at the tent from 8:00 to 8:40am.
• Two-stroke penalty to be applied to your starting hole if you Check-in late.
• Bring your quarters if you wish to join in any of the 3 pots (Low putts/CTP/chip in). 50 cents each pot.  If you did not put money in the Closest To Pin (CTP) pot, PLEASE DO NOT put your name on the marker sign at the hole.
