ABOUT THE CHAMPIONSHIP
Strokeplay
The first stage of the Championship, known as the NSW Medal (Men) and NSW Strokeplay (Women), will be stroke play over two rounds of 18 holes (36 holes), one round to be played at the Pennant Hills and one to be played at Ryde Parramatta Golf Club. The first round will be played on Monday 23 January and the second round on Tuesday 24 January. The field shall be divided between the Pennant Hills and Ryde Parramatta Golf Clubs on each of the first two days with players changing venues for the second round. The leading male player at the end of all stroke play rounds shall be the 2023 NSW Medallist, with the leading female player at the end of all stroke play rounds being awarded the 2023 NSW Strokeplay Championship.
Matchplay (for those who qualify)
The leading 32 male players and leading 16 female players (who have nominated to participate with their entry) will qualify for the match play stage of the Men’s and Women’s NSW Amateur Championship to be played at Pennant Hills from Wednesday 25 to Friday 27 January. In the event of a tie such that more than 16 female or 32 male players have qualified, those players tying for the last qualifying position or positions will compete over such holes as the Championship Committee determines in a sudden-death play-off. The men’s playoff will be at Ryde Parramatta on Tuesday 24 January immediately following the 2nd Round until 32 qualifiers have been determined. The women’s playoff will be at Pennant Hills on Tuesday 24 January immediately following the 2nd Round until 16 qualifiers have been determined. Once the qualifiers have been determined, for the purposes of determining places in the Match Play Draw, the “General Numerical Draw” published by Golf Australia will be used (i.e. the lowest qualifier is No 1, the second-lowest No 2, and so on). For the purposes of determining places in the Match Play Draw, ties at the end of the qualifying rounds other than those qualifying for the last place will be decided by a blind draw. The Draw for the first day’s matches will be available online at www.golfnsw.org.au shortly after the qualifiers are determined. Results and subsequent draws will also be available online at www.golfnsw.org.au.
Men’s NSW Champion of Champions
The Men’s NSW Club Champion of Champions event is played in conjunction with the NSW Medal. The event will be 36 holes of stroke play. The first round will be played on Monday 23 January and the second round on Tuesday 24 January at Pennant Hills & Ryde Parramatta Golf Clubs. The leading eligible player(s) at the end of the completed stroke play rounds shall be the Men’s NSW Club Champion of Champions. In the event of a tie, joint winners will be declared.
