Event information
The Format: The event format for the individual competition is single Stableford over two rounds. In addition, there is a 2-person Team Better Ball event to add some extra fun and interest to the tournament. For this, only a team's best individual stableford score for each hole (i.e. Better Ball) is counted. These are added to make the daily team total. The individual and team with the best total over two days win the titles.
Note that the format is designed to have three Champions. We have the two pairs winners and then the best individual player is also one of the three Champions. The intention is that if you have a blinder and your mate has a shocker, you can still be in contention. If one of the Pairs winners is also the best individual player, then the next-highest-ranked individual score is the individual winner.
Splitting ties: There will be no play-offs, and countbacks will be used to separate tied scores. The countback order will be: Total Stableford points for R2, then last nine holes, then the last six, then the last three holes and so forth until a winner is declared. If players are still tied, then results of R1 will be used as above. If a winner or winners are still not determined, the Match Committee will make a determination.
Handicaps: Each individual/pair will play via their official Golf Australia Handicaps, adjusted for the course/slope, etc. Daily results for all players will be entered on GOLF Link and will count towards players’ handicaps. Each player is personally responsible for ensuring that he or she is playing off the correct daily handicap on each day.
Weather: If there is storm activity during play and the possibility of lightning, we will follow the club’s directives and players may be asked to mark their balls and return to the clubhouse.
Nearest-the-Pin & Longest Drive: will be held each day.
Pace of play: Players are reminded that maintaining a good pace of play is extremely important. Please:
- Play Ready Golf at all times.
- Pick up your ball if you have scratched a hole.
- Prepare for your shot while your partners are playing.
- Move quickly between shots.
- Keep up with the group in front.
Scoring with the Golf Genius (GG) App
We are using the Golf Genius software system for the event scoring. There is an app that you need to download before the tournament. Please search for Golf Genius in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Prior to tee off each day, you will receive a Golf Genius ID (GGID) via SMS. Please enter your GGID into the App to log in and keep score. We will also distribute paper scorecards at the event (for backup scoring) so that we have two records of the scores to cross-reference.
(Note: If you have downloaded Golf Genius in the past, please ensure you have the latest version. In some cases, you may need to uninstall and reinstall the app in order for it to work properly.)
One person in each group will input all four players' stroke scores into the App after each hole. Golf Genius will then automatically calculate the individual and team Stableford scores. After golf, compare your hard copy scorecard and the virtual scores on the App to ensure they match before finalising all the scores for the group via the App.
Even if you are not entering scores for your group, you can still enter your GGID into the app and follow the live leaderboard.
