This notice serves as confirmation for Western Pennsylvania Brothers Championship on Friday, July 27, 2018 at Shannopin Country Club in Pittsburgh, PA.
Please note the enclosed starting time and pairings. The starting tee will be hole #1 and additional information will be distributed on the starting tee prior
to the start of the competition.
Format—18 Holes of Stroke Play, Chapman Format
CHAPMAN OR PINEHURST STROKE PLAY
In Chapman or Pinehurst stroke play, two players play as partners, each playing from the teeing ground and each playing his partner’s ball for the second
shot. After the second shot, partners select the ball with which they wish to score, and play that ball alternately to complete the hole.
Allowance for Brothers Net Competition
The partner with the lower Course Handicap receives 60 percent of his Course Handicap. The partner with the higher Course Handicap receives 40 percent
of his Course Handicap. Add the percentage allowances together before rounding, then round off the total with .5 or more rounded upward.
Provisional Balls
First stroke-Each contestant may hit a provisional ball for his ball which may be lost or out of bounds.
All other strokes-During the alternate stroke portion of each hole, if a side elects to play a provisional ball, it shall be played by the partner of the player
whose ball may be lost or out of bounds.
Tee Markers—All play for the Brothers Tournament is from the BLUE WPGA tee markers. The Blue Course will play roughly 6,400 yards. Play for the
Brothers Net Tournament will be from the WHITE WPGA Tee Markers. The White Course will play roughly 6,000 yards.
Gross/Net—The Brothers Tournament will play from the BLUE WPGA Tee Markers and will be playing for gross prizes only. The Brothers Net Tournament
will play from the WHITE WPGA Tee Markers and will be playing for net prizes only.
Practice— Practice rounds are available and are at the discretion of the golf shop. Practice rounds must be made in advance, by contacting Shannopin CC
at 412-761-2900 and are at the expense of the player. The professional is Eric Teasdale.
Transportation/Caddies— Golf carts are permitted and are included in your entry fee. Players may bring their own caddies if they choose to walk.
Evacuation Plan—In the event of a suspension of play for a dangerous situation all players should return immediately to the Clubhouse.
Footwear—METAL CLEATS ARE PROHIBITED--PENALTY IS DISQUALIFICATION.
Playoff—In the event of a tie for gross champion, a hole by hole playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee.
Food—The WPGA provides coffee, juices, fruits and breakfast pastries and lunch for players. All other food and beverage charges are the responsibility of
the player.
