Thank you for your entry into the 35th Oregon Senior Amateur Championship, September 4 – 7, 2018 at Illahe Hills Country Club.  Enclosed you will find your starting time for the stroke play qualifying round on Tuesday, September 4th.

 

 

You will be completing an 18-hole stroke play qualifying round to determine the match play draws.  There will be a playoff immediately following play on Tuesday in the event of a tie for the last qualifying spot into the championship flight, and/or a tie for the medalist.  The last place in additional flights will be determined by a scorecard playoff.  The defending champion, Bob Harrington, will assume the #2 seed in match play, if desired. 

 

Additional player information:

 

Practice Round: Players may call the Illahe Hills CC (503-581-3233), to make practice round arrangements.  Practice rounds can be scheduled on a space available basis and after 1:00 pm on weekends and Monday, September 3rd. Contestants are eligible for one complimentary practice round. Practice rounds are for contestants only and will not be extended to guests, caddies, or family members.  Players who wish to use their practice round are expected to abide by all club rules including pace of play.

Registration: All contestants are required to register in person prior to play in order to pick up their contestant packet and tee prize.  Registration will be Tuesday, September 4th from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

 

Food Service: The OGA will host lunch for all contestants on Tuesday and Wednesday.

 

Golf Carts: Cart fees are to be paid to the pro shop at the time of rental. Please note that the OGA automotive cart policy stating a maximum of two carts per group will be in effect.  As a reminder, please observe any cart path restrictions posted by Illahe Hills CC.

 

Caddies: You may bring your own; Illahe Hills CC will not have caddies available.

 

Practice Range: The driving range will be open at 7:00 a.m. each day during the championship.  Complimentary warm up range balls will be made available to contestants prior to each round courtesy of the OGA. 

 

Spikeless Shoes: It is a condition of this competition that metal or traditionally designed spikes are prohibited.  This includes alternative spikeless products, which are partially comprised of metal, when such metal comes in contact with the turf.  The penalty for breach of this condition is disqualification.

 

Dress Code: Proper attire must be worn at all times.  Proper attire does not include spandex body wear, cutoffs, running shorts, short-shorts, tank tops, tee shirts, or denim of any kind or color, or unkempt clothing of any kind.  Neat and clean pants, slacks, cords, or appropriately hemmed, tailored shorts no more than 6 inches above the knee (men’s shorts must have a minimum of three pockets) are acceptable, as are sweaters and sweatshirts, golf shirts (men’s must have collars).  Shoes must be worn at all times.  Contestants not in compliance with the OGA Dress Code will be Disqualified from the championship and removed from the golf course.  All caddies and spectators must follow dress code guidelines.

 

Golf Balls: Optional condition for “Conforming Golf Ball”.

 

OGA Pace of Play Guidelines: will be in effect during the championship.  Pace of Play Policy is enclosed and also will be available before each round at the starter’s tent.

Score Posting: will be done by the OGA for each round after the championship has been completed.  The OGA will post each player’s adjusted score to GHIN as a tournament score, for handicapping purposes.  For score posting purposes only, players are required to keep their hole-by-hole scores during match play.
