Playday for Tuesday January 24 was cancelled

Due to heavy rain and stormy conditions approaching, by 8:00am most of our players had cancelled and then by about 8:15am more cancelled and we did not have the needed 8 players to hold a Playday. By contrast, the 9 Hole league had a Playday with 13 players starting and 9 finishing the round.

 

THANK YOU ALL FOR FOLLOWING THE CANCELLATION PROCEDURE. 

When Sign Ups are closed at Sunday Noon, you will not be able to sign up or cancel using your confirmation email or Golf Genius. Interclub for Thursday January 26 cancelled

The first event of the 2023 Northwoods Interclub to be hosted at Kingwood Country Club has been cancelled due to course conditions. The river near us went up 7 feet so they are not able to pump water out to start recovering and drying out in a timely manner and therefore unable to host the event on any of our courses.

 

The next Northwoods Interclub Playday is scheduled for Thursday February 23, 2023 at The Woodlands.

 

Next KWGA activity: Tuesday January 31

January 31, 2023: This will be our first guest day and the game will be Selective Nine.

Shotgun start time 9:00am.  Check-in tent outside Pro Shop time: 8:00-8:40am.

 

Bring your quarters if you wish to join in the various 50 cent pots.  If you choose not to participate in Closest To Pin (CTP) pot, DO NOT put your name on the sign at the hole. 

 

Calendar Look-Ahead for the 18 League

February 7, 2023: Playday game “Ace of Aces”.

 

February 14, 2023: President’s Cup Tournament and Luncheon. Golf will be a four person 3,2,1 format.  Sign up as a four-person team or as an individual and you will be paired with a group. If you do not choose to play golf, join in for lunch at the Lakeside Terrace at 1:00 p.m honoring the past Presidents of KWGA. Wednesday February 22, 2023: This will be our first Fun Day with the 18 & 9 Hole Leagues. A 9-hole event, followed by lunch, and then the rules clinic (2-4 pm). 

 

 

Saturday Play

If you are interested in being on (or off) the distribution list for playing on Saturday, email Kakie Palmer at kakiepalmer@gmail.com.

In order to play "legal" so that your score counts towards Year End awards and to receive course credit, you did not participate in the previous Tuesday playday (which includes starting but then withdrawing). There will need to be two "legal" players in a division (18 or 9) to count as a KWGA official Saturday Playday. Otherwise, you can play just for fun. 

 

Divot Days

There are now 4 Divot Days planned for this spring. Sign-ups will be through Golf Genius.  They are held on Wednesday mornings, starting with breakfast at 7:00 and heading to course at 7:30 and ending by 9:30.  You will earn a Volunteer point for each Divot Day you participate in. Save these dates:

February 15 – Lake

March 8 – Forest

April 5 – Marsh

May 3 – Island

Humble ISD Golf Tournament

Monday Feb 20,2023 Humble ISD Golf Classic at Kingwood Country Club

 

The Golf Classic supports the golf programs at Atascocita, Kingwood, Kingwood Park and Summer Creek High Schools. The goal of this event is to raise funds to help offset the cost of tournament fees, travel, and hosting expenses for the 170+ student golfers in the district.

CHEVRON LPGA OPEN

The Chevron Championship is one of the five Major championships of professional women’s golf.

 

The first major championship for the LPGA season will take place April 17th - April 23rd, 2023 at The Club at Carlton Woods - Nicklaus Course in The Woodlands, Texas. 

 

Volunteer Registration is now open.  There are 12 different committees to choose from and some that do not require a lot of standing.   Please register as soon as possible. Please go to  https://www.thechevronchampionship.com/

We ask volunteers to please work at least 3 days and shifts will differ with each committee - there maybe 2 shifts (morning/afternoon) or 3 shifts (early morning-mid day and afternoon).   When you register on-line, you will be able to click on each committee to see days and shifts.
