January 31st
Good Morning team captains!
The regular season's end is sneaking up on us and everything generally seems to be smooth. I just want to communicate a few things.
Pace of play
In general has been ok, I have communicated with a few division's directly on the host clubs ability to enforce a pace of play policy. Please let me know if your division needs a wake up call. There is no reason why a match can't be played in 4:15 or less!
Working in the proper round
Please make sure that you are working in the proper round, I have had multiple instances where captains are wiping out results. At least we can easily recover past scores when we replace the proper players that were removed from the completed rounds. Let me know if any past results look funny.
The next few weeks will bring some excitement and some disappointment.
Gentleman you have 4 short regions, meaning there are 4 wildcard spots up for grabs in regions that have only 3 divisions. The second place team in a region with the most division points will get a wild card spot in that region for the playoffs.
Any host club that wishes to limit or not allow spectators has every right to do so.
It has been brought to my attention that some clubs have spectators. This is fantastic as long as they stay out of the way and don't interact with participants.
Spectators who need to talk with a player (for health reasons and handing them sunscreen, food or beverages) should do so in front of other spectators and/or players.
How to Properly Follow a Group
(Where you should stand, walk or follow)
- Follow your players from a distance (at least 25 yards) and stay in the rough or on the cart paths.
- You should NOT be in the fairway. Stay to the side of the action and remain still and quiet while all players play.
- Do not lag behind the participants as this often delays the group behind.
- Move forward to the putting green when all shots have been completed.
Past communications are listed here on the portal

January 9th
Morning Team Captains,
Week One is in the books for just about all of you. Great job! I Just want to expound on a couple things.
BE VERY CAREFUL THAT YOU ARE WORKING IN THE PROPER ROUND BEFORE REMOVING PLAYERS AND ADDING PLAYERS.
We have already a couple instances of captains removing players from a completed round and wiping out scores. (make sure each captain has a copy of scorecards)
Be very aware of the round date...
POST A SCORE
There are many players not entering a score for a hole that they picked up on, this is wrong.
If you pick up on a hole because your partner is putting for a par and you are laying six you still would post your most likely score.
(see Rule 3.3 When a Hole is Started But Player Does Not Hole Out).
I will be soft this week, but if I see golfers repeatedly not entering enough scores for the purpose of not posting there will be some index modifications. If you start a hole There Must Be a Score to Post!
If you start a hole and don't finish you will post your most likely score. This is not your max score every time. The platform will auto adjust any scores using the golfer's current index, not Low Index.
Speaking of index modifications, we have also had our first few index modifications for exceptional scores and they were all adjusted 2 strokes - I will not be shy or hesitate to modify an index. Each weekend I will scour 1,200+ scores and I already have 20+ golfers on my radar.
Lastly, Last minute changes. There are some rules for last minute changes. You must fit any last minute changes into the line up. You can't replace your #1 player with a 15 handicap. Be prepared with your Golf Genius login credentials when traveling or reach out ahead of time to the club captain you are visiting....
c. In the event that a last minute substitution would result in an improper sequence, the substitute player must play with a handicap that is in proper sequence. (Example: A substitute with a handicap of 10 cannot be placed between players with handicaps of 6 and 8. The substitute would be required to play with a handicap of 7 in this instance.) However, if time permits, the pairings should be adjusted. A player with a lower handicap may not be substituted without adjusting the pairings.
d. If players are not paired in lowest handicap Index sequence according to the procedures outlined above, or, if a player should play with an improper handicap, the team in violation shall forfeit all individual and/or team four-ball match points won during the match by the player(s).
Appreciate all you are doing! I know how hard you are working at this
January 2nd
Yesterday I updated all golfers to the Low Index as of Jan 1st.
You may need to check the Match Play Pairings to make sure all golfers are in order. Going forward the system will auto order your matches in proper order by index.
In the team captain menu you will find the Course Details tab. Please reach out if you don't see your course before you try to add.
Your course must be checked to be available to set in the Edit Course and Tee Assignment
The Handicap Analysis will easily explain all player handicaps. Golfers must be assigned to a course and tee to see this.
It is highly recommended that scorecards are printed and distributed to each cart. There should be identical matching cards for each pairing group. Each team captain or player rep for their team should take home a copy of all cards for each match.
Scorecards are found in the Report Center in a marked category.
The Men will use the singles and doubles card, the Women will just need the Doubles card.
Always make sure that you are choosing the proper tournament when printing.
The Home team should be Entering Results and all team captains should review in the portal once this is done.
December 24th - Happy Holidays
Hope you all are doing well and have a chance to enjoy some of the Holiday.
Couple things...
Most of you have successfully logged into the portal and have been navigating to the Team Captain Menu. In the portal there is a Team Captain Help tab that I will continue to update with some guidance. All of the help clips are in a windows based laptop/desktop computer format, I have provided a few screenshots for Apple product users to find the hidden menu tab.

I have tried my best to reach out to those who have stumbled a bit, I will be available first thing Monday morning for assistance. I will get to you! 813-868-5855
It's not mandatory to do so now but you may find a golfer or two who may not qualify based on the status of the GHIN record. After 12/31 those golfers without enough scores entered or actually active on the clubs GHIN roster will be out of luck.
Double Check your Course Details.
Most courses listed are correct. Many clubs have made changes over the last year, if so we may need to download the updated course from the Course Directory.
All golfers will be updated in the early hours of January 1st to the WHS Low Index. You will play to this low index for the entire regular season.
Some may not have 20 scores. They will be updated to the low revision. Low revision depends on how many scores have actually been posted. 5.2 Calculation of a Handicap Index
I monitor all scores posted each week and will modify any golfer with an exceptional score...
Exceptional Score - A Score Differential which is at least 7.0 strokes better than the player’s Handicap Index at the time the round was played (see Rule 5.9 Submission of an Exceptional Score).
You will see a weekly note from me starting Jan 1st and they will all be listed in the Portal. https://www.golfgenius.com/pages/8039681476398162594
