Meeting Minutes

May 18, 2021

 

Present:           Steve Hendricksen, Frank Richter, Edwin Goldman, Tom Lyda, Patrick Tourais, David Bradley

Absent:            Frank Zampello, Joe Blankenship, Bill Wells, Brent Johnston

  1. Minutes of the April 13, 2021 meeting were accepted as submitted.
  2. Membership – Patrick reported membership now stands at 201, an increase of 3 since our last meeting.  Newsletter is in process and will be posted to the website when complete.
  3. Tournaments – Bill Wells was absent. Steve Hendricksen reported the following:
    1. The Bash scheduled for May 18 was rained out and will not be re-scheduled. 63 players had registered to play.
    2. Next Bash is scheduled for June 8. No course has yet been assigned.
    3. Social event after June 8 Bash with beer and food provided by OFWW treasury.
  4. Vice President – Edwin Goldman
    1. No change in hole-in-one pot.; still stands at $265 with 53 members.
    2. Steve reported that KCC would be hosting a junior tournament and that Dick Smith would be looking for volunteers.
  5. Interclub – David Bradley
    1. Lake team record is currently 5-5.
    2. Match against April Sound scheduled for May 20 was cancelled and will be re-scheduled.
  6. Statistics – Tom Lyda
    1. Tom provided a report covering 28 Playdays and 5 Bashes played between December 1, 2020 and May 17, 2021.
    2. Participation – 113 members have played in at least one event. 94 members have played in at least one Playday and 102 members have played in at least one Bash.
    3. Playday participation – Average 38.6, High 53, Low 17.
    4. Bash participation – Average 57, High 64 in April and Low 37 in January.
    5. A flight’s percentage of the total has varied between a low of 16% and a high of 49%.
    6. Flighting – High/Mid/Low Split has averaged 31%/36%/33%. Only twice have flights needed to be combined.
  7. Website – Brent Johnston Email report:
  • A “portal” has been set up for OFWW with in Golf Genius. I have started to identify what content should transition to the Golf Genius platform (not a good fit for “everything” due to formatting and content management) and what content will likely need to remain on the separately hosted web Site. 
  • I will begin changing the structure to accommodate the change and update some of the formatting to make it look seamless when the time to transition comes
  • I recommend we make the shift when we start signing up directly in Golf Genius
  • I have been granted a high level administrator role in Golf Genius so I can figure out what functionality will make sense to utilize and test it out before any changes are made

 

 

Club Life App performance

  1. Dick Smith is actively working with the Corp IT folks to address a couple of known glitches (access on early Saturday AM; Clearing of TBN when an error occurs during an update)
  2. The Pro shop is close to appointing a Tee Time “desk” that will have the primary responsibility to help members with setting up tee time that aren’t accommodated in Club Life (i.e., 3 consecutive tee times) “

 

  1. President – Steve Hendricksen
    1. MGA – Medalist program is not yet seeing large participation. Interclub having trouble filling spots. Discussion of ClubCorp, Houston area interclub league.
    2. Golf Committee
      1. Ron Zambrowski, currently Head Pro at Deerwood will become Regional Tournament Director.
      2. KCC has received allocation of $100,000 in capital funds for cart path repair.
      3. New fleet of golf carts expected in August.
    3. Bylaw revision discussion
      1. Electronic membership vote results on forward tee eligibility issue (age 70 and above); 81 Yes, 10 No and 3 questions.
      2. The Board also agreed to maintain the current rule of 95 (Handicap Index + Age) for players not yet 70 years of age.
      3. Various items pointed out by David Bradley were discussed and noted for correction or clarification in the next draft.
      4. Discussed the need to seek approvals from the Membership by electronic vote for two additional changes, before the Annual Meeting in November: (1) the addition of a ninth director to the Board and (2) changing the terms of officers and directors from one year to two years and staggering terms so that only one half of the Board is elected every year.
