Meeting Minutes

March 9, 2021

Present:           Steve Hendricksen, Patrick Tourais, Brent Johnston, Frank Richter, David Bradley, Edwin Goldman

Absent:            Tom Lyda, Frank Zampello, Bill Wells, Joe Blankenship

1. Minutes of the February 9, 2021 meeting were approved and accepted as submitted. Board approved posting of these minutes and those of future meetings to the website to keep members informed.
2. Treasurer’s Report: Frank Zampello No report.
3. Communication / Membership: Patrick Tourais
   1. OFWW membership currently stands at 196. Since the last meeting 1 members resigned.
   2. March newsletter is in process.
4. Tournaments: Bill Wells – written report
   1. Next Bash will be held on April 13th. Format will be Pink Ball/ Scramble. Course has yet to be assigned.
   2. Steve raised the question of whether we would like to offer hamburgers etc. after the next Bash.  We could use the big tent erected on top of the cart barn for another event. Cost would be $14 per person. No conclusion was reached. Steve will send out a breakdown of the costs for such an event for further discussion.
   3. The Board then entered into a general discussion of the number of events that could be sponsored each year, the objectives of the events vs. funds available.  No conclusions were reached pending further discussion.
5. Interclub: David Bradley
   1. Team records to date: Marsh 1 win & 1 tie; Lake 1 win & 1 loss.
   2. Dave reported that he was investigating the possibility of having future matches played on the Island and Forest courses.
6. Website: Brent Johnston
   1. Website “cleanup” process is continuing.  Brent is trying to make maintenance and document uploads easier.
   2. Patrick will supply Brent an updated membership list for posting.
7. Vice President: Edwin Goldman
   1. No change in the hole-in-one pot; still only 50 participants.
   2. Playday course schedule has been confirmed.
8. Statistics: Tom Lyda – No report.
9. President’s Report: Steve Hendricksen
   1. MGA is introducing “Medalist” form of play. Monthly members could choose to participate and play the same designated course at any time during the month. Cost would be $5 per match, flighted by handicap. Winners would receive points toward year end awards.
   2. Golf Committee
      1. New additions to the golf staff include a new Head Pro and an Assistant Pro.
      2. Lisa Vaught has assumed the position of Senior director – Player Development.
      3. Course Maintenance – working on bunkers, re-sodding areas damaged by the February freeze. Mowing greens every three days and monitoring the greens for any signs of ice damage.
   3. Potential dues increase – it was agreed that we need to develop a proposed budget before trying to set the amount of any increase.
   4. Bylaw revision – Steve requested that someone other than himself should manage the Bylaw revision process. Edwin, Brent, and Frank R were appointed as a subcommittee to manage the revision process and to specifically address what items belonged in the bylaws and which items should be removed.
   5. Next Divot Day is April 7th. Ronnie Bulanek is the coordinator.
