OFWW Special Golf Rules

1. During the period from November through March and anytime on holes marked “Cart Path Only” you may lift clean and place your ball within one club length through the green, except for penalty areas and greens:

  1. If your ball is in the rough, you may move it to another spot in the rough
  2. If your ball is in the fairway, you may move it to another spot in the fairway
  3. If your ball is on the fringe of the green, you may NOT move it onto the green

2. For Play Days and Bashes, putts within one scorecard length of the closest edge of the hole may be picked up, counting as one stroke and considered holed out. Your usual Saturday practice “giving putts that are barely on the green” is not allowed.

3. Golf ball on or near tree root can be lift, cleaned and placed within 1 club length, no closer to the hole. No penalty strokes.

4. Fire ants and hog damage are considered an abnormal ground condition, for which a player receives free relief from any interference with their stance or stroke.

5. All downed trees and limbs outside the tree line (i.e., not in the woods) shall be considered piled for removal. A player may take relief if such condition exists and interferes with his stance or swing.

6. Yardage measuring devices are permitted provided they do not measure slope.

7. The Golf Genius app will be used for scoring and calculating results. You can download the App onto your phone from the App store. Each flyer handed out by the Starter will have a GGID listed for that group. Enter that GGID after you have opened the App on your phone and the scorecard for your group will be pulled up so you can enter the score.

8. In our Playdays and Bashes, we will use the new 2019 USGA recommended “Maximum Score” of net double bogey per hole. After that you should pick up your ball, to improve pace of play.

9. It is recommended that everyone play ‘ready golf’ and encourage fellow players to play out of turn in a safe and responsible way to save time or for convenience. Players should recognize that their pace of play affects others and they should play promptly throughout the round (such as by preparing in advance for each stroke and moving promptly between strokes and in going to the next tee).
