November 6th – Lake Course-  Beat the Pro

Format and Payout Guidelines:

● Sign up by calling the Golf Shop or Kingwood MGA Website

● Two tournaments in one: Beat the Pro and Individual Flights

● Played on the Lake Course

● Shotgun start at 10 AM (subject to Covid-19 restrictions)

● Event follows Annual Membership Meeting and Breakfast @ 8 AM in White Tent

● Upon completion of the round, all players will receive a $25 Kroger gift card for a Turkey

● $40 entry fee with participation limited to KMGA members (membership sign-ups available vialf KMGA website)

● Play the ball down and all putts are to be holed out

● All payouts will be golf shop credit

● USGA rules will apply

● If a question occurs, play a 2nd ball and consult Tim Lovell (Pro Shop) for rulings after the round

● Beat the Pro Format: o Payout for those beating the pro with a net score (tie goes to the pro)

        o Pro score to beat will be the sum of the best individual gross score on each hole by the KCC Golf Pros(4).

        o Payout per player will be 40% of the entire pot divided by the number of winning players

● For the Flight portion of the event: o Target 10 players per flight (this may be adjusted as a function of the total number of players, but goal is equal flight sizes)

        o Target playing a total of 3 places per fight; all flights receiving the same total payout o 60% of the total prize money will be used to payout flights

        o For the 1st flight – payouts include 2 gross places and 1 net

        o For the mid handicap flights – payouts include 1 gross and 2 net

        o For the high handicap flights – payouts include 3 net, no gross

 

All members will play from the Blue tees, except for those qualifying and electing to use the White or Silver tee option. Qualifications for white and silver tees must be met:

● White Tees: Players must be 60 years - using the White tees will use their White tee course handicap

● Silver Tees: Players must be 70 years - using the Silver tees will use their Silver tee course handicap

● This course handicap will apply for both the net scores in each flight as well as the net score in beat the pro

Entry Fee: $40.00 includes lunch and beer after tournament.

Signup deadline: Thursday, December 2nd at 5:00 PM

Players will be divided into 4 groups (A, B, C, D) based on handicaps, attempting to establish an equal number in each group.

The Pro Shop will use a computer draw process for team selection.

 

Tournament Format: 4-person scramble.

Each Player must use four (4) drives. Each team player hits a shot. One shot is then selected, and the next shot is played by all team players within 1 club length no nearer to the hole maintaining the same position i.e. if the shot chosen is in the rough next shot must be played from the rough. This process is repeated until the ball is holed.

 

Play will be from the BLUE tees except for the following options:

White Tee Option: Minimum of 60 years old

Silver Tee Option: Minimum of 70 years old

 

BRING A TOY OR $20 FOR DONATION TO HAAM AND EARN 5 BONUS POINTS FOR SHOOTOUT QUALIFICATION.

The 2022 Medalist Championship will run from December 2021 to November 2022. Joining the Medalist program is easy and we encourage you to participate. All you have to do is:

• Find 2 other KMGA members that want to play
• Book a tee time on a day/time of your choosing on the current month’s Medalist course
• Call/Email the golf shop and let them know you want to play your Medalist round

FORMAT: TWO FORMATS IN ONE TOURNAMENT AS FOLLOWS:

 

PINK BALL FORMAT: EACH TEAM MEMBER PLAYS THE PINK-BALL ON A MINIMUM OF 4 HOLES, TO BE DECIDED BY THE TEAM CAPTAIN. THE REMAINING 2 HOLES, CAN BE PLAYED BY ANY TEAM MEMBER THAT THE TEAM CAPTAIN DECIDES UPON. PLEASE RECORD THE GROSS SCORE.

SCRAMBLE FORMAT: THE OTHER THREE PLAYERS OF THE TEAM PLAY A THREE-MAN SCRAMBLE. EACH PLAYER TEES OFF SELECT THE BALL IN THE BEST POSITION, EACH PLAYER HITS THEIR SECOND SHOT FROM THAT POINT, CONTINUE THIS PROCEDURE UNTIL THE BALL HAS BEEN HOLED OUT. RECORD GROSS SCRAMBLE SCORE.

ALL PLAYERS WILL DRIVE ON EVERY HOLE. (THE PINK BALL CAN BE USED FOR A DRIVE IN THE SCRAMBLE FORMAT.) AT THAT POINT THE PINK BALL PLAYER STILL PLAYS ON HIS OWN AND THE OTHER PLAYERS SCRAMBLE UNTIL THE BALL IS HOLED OUT. RECORD THE GROSS SCRAMBLE SCORE AND THE GROSS SCORE FOR THE PINK BALL.

LOST PINK BALL: AT THE POINT YOUR TEAM LOSES THE PINK BALL, THE TEAM IS OUT OF THE PINK BALL COMPETITION. STARTING ON THE NEXT HOLE, ALL 4 PLAYERS WILL DRIVE THEIR BALL ON EACH HOLE. AFTER THE DRIVE HAS BEEN SELECTED THE TEAM WILL THEN PLAY A DROPOUT SCRAMBLE FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE HOLE. YOU CONTINUE THIS FORMAT FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE ROUND.
DROPOUT: THE PLAYER WHO’S SHOT IS SELECTED AFTER EACH SHOT MAY NOT HIT THE NEXT SHOT. THE TEAM HAS THREE MINUTES TO LOOK FOR LOST PINK BALL.

RULES COMMITTEE: KINGWOOD GOLF PROFESSIONAL STAFF

Each month, we play a different course. Golfers may play their monthly medalist (individual, 18-hole stroke play) round any day of that month.

A monthly medallion will be awarded to the single low gross and net flight winners. At the end of the year the respective qualifiers will have a playoff, with the overall winner’s name engraved on the KMGA Medalist Plaque, to be displayed in the Clubhouse. The cost to play is $5 per medalist round. This program will supplement, not replace, our existing monthly Saturday events. Details below:

There will be 4 flights (1 gross, 3 net). Net flights will be determined by the number of players participating each month, with the goal of an equal number of players in each net flight.

• Points will be awarded every month to players in each flight towards year-end awards.
  • All players will earn points for every month they participate.
  • 30% of the flight will earn points based on performance
  • Total points earned through the year determine year-end awards
  • Monthly and year-to-date results will be posted on our KMGA Website and in the Tin Cup.
  • At the end of the year, prize money will be awarded to the top 30% point earners.

16 players will battle it out in an end-of-year, 18-hole Medalist Championship where the lowest net score wins. Handicaps for the playoff will be based on medalist scores, not GHIN. Qualifiers for the playoff will be the top 16 overall point leaders, independent of flight. The winner of the playoff will earn the top spot as the Kingwood MGA Medalist Golfer of the Year and have his name engraved on the Medalist Plaque to be displayed in the Club House.

The field will be limited to the first 60 teams.

There are 6 teams per flight.

Each team plays 5 nine-hole matches, three matches on Saturday and two matches on Sunday.

Each nine-hole match is worth a total of 10 points.

 

Flight winners and any team that wins all their matches but is not the flight winner will compete in an elimination shootout on Sunday afternoon to establish the overall winner.

Entry Fee: $40.00 – Includes keg beer after the round

Time: 9:00 AM Shotgun Start

Format: Sign up as an individual.  All players will be grouped into 1 of 4 groups, A, B, C or D based on handicaps index.  

 

For the tournament, each team’s goal is to obtain as many points as possible over the team quota.  The points are awarded to each team member based on their gross score as shown below.

Eagle 6

Birdie 4

Par 2

Bogey  1

Double Bogey 0

 

 

Each Players quota is the difference between 36 and their course handicap. If your handicap is a 20 then your quota is 16 points (36-20=16). The team’s quota is the combined total of all four team members quotas.  

 

The teams with the most points relative to their quota are awarded prize money in the form of Golf Shop Credit.

 

TEES: BLUE TEES WITH THE FOLLOWING EXCEPTIONS:

WHITE TEE OPTION: You are 60 years of age or older.

FORMAT:  Each Player hits his tee shot.  Players select best tee shot and plays rest of hole individually repeating this process on every hole. Players will receive 70% of their individual handicap.  Sign up as a team or as an individual.

Players may improve their lie but not their position within one club length.

The fourteen-club rule is in effect.

All putts must be holed out.

 

Maximum allowed handicap index differential of a team is 8.  If the handicap index differential is more than 8 the higher of the two will be reduced to equal an eight differential.  EXAMPLE: If a 2 and a 12-handicap index are partnering the 12 will be reduced to a 10.

The tournament will be flighted based on combined indexes.

                        Course: Lake

 

                        Signup deadline:  Thuesday July 7th @ 9:00am 

           

                        First 120 players to sign up are in the tournament all others will be put

                        on a wait list.

 

Tournament Format:  Event with all players teeing off from the designated tee, rotating each hole marked as Red, White, or Blue.  The desired tee shot is selected.  The player’s tee shot that is selected becomes the Lone Ranger for that hole.  The Lone Ranger plays stroke play for the hole while the other players continue with a full scramble from the Lone Ranger’s tee shot. Lone Ranger’s Net score plus the scramble score is the team score for that hole.  Each player must be the Lone Ranger for a minimum of four holes.  Full handicaps will be used for net scores.

 

For new KMGA members, an ABCD event ranks the participants by handicap as an A, B, C, or D player.   All teams have one player from each group.   There will be a C Player Draft on Thursday July 7th in Tin Cup Mens Locker Room.

FORMAT:  4-person shamble (ABCD, computer generated teams).  Each team player hits a tee shot. Team selects which tee shot they will play. All players then play their own ball until it is holed out.

 

TEAM SCORE: RECORD THE BEST NET BEST BALLS ON THE FOLLOWING:

                        PAR 3 HOLES - ONE NET BEST SCORE

                        PAR 4 HOLES - TWO NET BEST SCORES

                        PAR 5 HOLES - THREE NET BEST SCORES

 

• FROM THE SELECTED TEE SHOT: ALL PLAYERS MAY PLACE THEIR BALL WITHIN ONE CLUB LENGTH. THE BALL MUST REMAIN IN THE SAME CONDITION. PLAY THE BALL AS IT LIES AFTER SECOND SHOT.

3-Man Scramble – Played with 2 teams per tee (Six-somes) The 3-Man Scramble is an 18-Hole tournament played in Scramble format. No minimum drive requirements, no handicap differential limit. Handicap:  Net Division Team gets 70% of average handicap, rounded down Payout is based on size of the flight.  If less than 4 teams register for the gross flight, these teams will be moved to the net flight.  Target to pay out at 1/3 of the field Lift, clean and replace within one scorecard, no closer to the hole and with no improvement  (i.e. ball in rough must stay in rough)   Handicap Examples: Player 1 has a 5 handicap, Player 2 has a 6 handicap, Player 3 has a 10 handicap. (5+6+10)/3 * 70% = 4.90 rounding down to 4  shots. Player 1 has a 2 handicap, Player 2 has a 5 handicap, and Player 3 has a 10 handicap. (2+5+10)/3 * 70% = 3.97 rounding down to 3 shots.  General Guidelines: Play until the ball is holed, no gimmes.

TWO (2) TOURNAMENTS IN ONE:

1.  BEAT THE PROS:  Individual M.G.A. players NET score against the pros best ball score. Ties will go to the Pros.  40% of the total prize money will be used to payout players beating the pros Best Ball gross score.
2. NET AND GROSS PAYOUT WITHIN YOUR FLIGHT: Individual flight payouts determined by player participation.  1st flight 2 gross and 1 net. All other flights 1 gross and 2 net (based on full field of 10 players per flight.  60% of the prize money will be used to payout flight winners. Overall Low Gross and Low Net will be awarded the top prize.  You can only win in one category.

TEES: Blue tees except for those who qualify for White and Silver tee options (must declare tee option when registering).

PROFFESSIONALS:  Men play from Blue Tees and women from the Silver Tees.
