EDDY; noun, plural; EDDIES

1. a current at variance with the main current.

2. a current, trend or event - running counter to the main current

Eighteen Eddies is designed as a one-day eighteen hole Sramble with ABCD teams in both a Men's Flight and a Ladies' Flight, in which the golf course hole-by-hole set-up is designed to make it play as difficult as possible. Other iterations of this event have been known as the "Superintendent's Revenge".  A USGA Handicap is required to play in this event.

In a typical daily course set-up, the idea is to place hole locations in a 6-6-6 configuration. Six front, six middle and six back pins. Six left, six middle and six right pins so as to create balance and not favor any one type of player or ball flight characteristic.

Conceptually, the idea for Eighteen Eddies is to offer a very difficult pin placement on every hole. Difficult but not impossible or goofy. And yes, we realize this requires some keen but subjective judgment.

In addition, the tees for each player type (Men - Silver/Copper Combo, Ladies - Teal) are extended to the maximum yardage. In short, the course will never play any more difficult than for Eighteen Eddies!   A survival test and badge of honor. Sound like fun?
