Golf Fore Las Vegas Charity Golf Tournament for Local First Responders
The PGA TOUR and PGA of America are honored to team up in support of a community’s ongoing recovery, announcing a “Golf Fore Las Vegas” charity golf tournament scheduled Monday, Nov. 20 at TPC Las Vegas – the only public TOUR facility in Nevada.
Together, the TOUR and PGA, as well as sponsors from the golf industry, will honor those who risk their lives daily for the protection of others, inviting local first responders to participate in the one-day event. With several PGA TOUR professionals, including Las Vegas native Charley Hoffman, donating winnings from the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open at TPC Summerlin November 2-5, the TOUR and PGA will donate all proceeds to the Direct Impact Fund – a non-profit organization focusing on providing immediate and direct assistance to those affected by natural and man-made disasters.
“Charley Hoffman has set an amazing example for all of us, immediately offering to use his platform as a PGA TOUR player to help those impacted by the Las Vegas shooting,” said PGA TOUR Commissioner Jay Monahan. “We’re honored to join in his efforts to raise money for the Direct Impact Fund, and are grateful to our friends at the PGA of America for partnering with us as well. We hope the Golf Fore Las Vegas event shines a light on the incredible work of our nation’s first responders. Our heartfelt thanks goes out to them, as does our pledge to support those impacted by this terrible tragedy.”
“In trying times, golf’s extended family consistently comes together to offer assistance, and that’s why the PGA of America is proud to partner with the PGA TOUR to host the Golf Fore Las Vegas charitable event at TPC Las Vegas,” said PGA President Paul Levy. “This is a special opportunity to thank the first responders who served so courageously in the face of unthinkable tragedy. It’s also a time to honor and assist the victims through our support of the Direct Impact Fund. The PGA and our thousands of Professionals around the country are inspired by Las Vegas’ brave first responders and honored to support Golf Fore Las Vegas.”
The golf tournament will begin at 10 a.m. with complimentary breakfast provided to participants prior to tee off. Aside from championship golf at TPC Las Vegas, previously serving as host to the PGA TOUR Champions Las Vegas Senior Classic and the PGA TOUR’s Shriner’s Hospitals for Children Open, the event will feature interactive contests for prizes, including longest drive, closest to the pin and a hole-in-one competition sponsored by Club Car.
Fans wishing to support Las Vegas victims can do so by making donations through PGA TOUR Charities’ Together, anything’s possible website by clicking on the red GIVE button. From October 30 through November 20, all donations taken in by the site will be distributed to the Direct Impact Fund.
