Welcome!

Hello everyone! We are excited to announce that our field is finalized and we have 156 of the nation’s best competing this week! Please find attached two welcome letters, one on behalf of our hosts, Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu, and one from our Golf Canada Tournament Chair, Paul Schofield.

Power Carts

For those players that we have just confirmed, mandatory power carts are required for each round of the championship and rather paying the pro shop for each round, Golf Canada will be sending you an invoice for $25/round in two invoice installments. The first invoice will be for the Practice Round, Round 1 and Round 2. Following the cut, those players that are remaining, we will send an invoice for Round 3 and Round 4.

 

After discussing with the club further, it looks like we will be able to offer a cart to every individual competitor. That being said, for those that don’t have caddies and feel like sharing a cart with another competitor, we encourage you to explore that option. Caddies can ride with the player during the championship and can operate the cart as well. For the practice round, caddies will not be able to use carts due to inventory and public play from the other nine. Caddies are able to walk, or join the player appropriately during the practice round. Carts will be reserved for players only on Monday.

 

Regardless, those players teeing off in the morning will need to return their cart immediately to the cart staging area, below the hill, near the hotel and bag drop to ensure we have enough carts for the afternoon wave for Round 1 and Round 2.

 

Practice Time Before Rounds

With COVID-19 we are asking players to not head up to the golf course too early (no earlier than 1 hour and 15 minutes before your tee time) if possible.

 

Parking for Off-Site Guests

Players coming off site into the hotel area will see some signage directing you to the bag drop area (east of the hotel). The bag attendants will direct you where to park your car, including where the overflow parking lot is beyond the bag drop area.

 

Registration – Vaccine Checklist

As a reminder, the province of Québec requires all stakeholders involved in our championship to be fully vaccinated. This includes, tournament staff, players, caddies and volunteers. We will ask that you show proof of two Health Canada approved vaccinations, or one dose of Johnson & Johnson at registration on Monday. I can confirm that from being here for a few days already, for out of province residents, an electronic copy of a vaccination confirmation or hard copy, supported by Photo ID is all that is required. For residents of Québec, the QR code method is what is being asked in the hotel for accessing restaurants and indoor activity spaces.

 

Caddies should register at this time as well, if possible, if not they can do so before Round 1 on Tuesday. Registration will be located in the Tea Room in the hotel, just up the hotel stairs to your left (there will be signage to direct you). Registration is open from 2 P.M. to 6 P.M. on Monday. If you cannot register during these hours, please let me know and we’ll setup alternative arrangements.

 

Breakfast and Lunch

Due to COVID-19, we unfortunately have to be a bit creative with our breakfast and lunch options for this year. Buffets are not allowed at this time, so we have gone ahead with boxed breakfasts and lunches for players only. These will be brought out at staggered times throughout the week so food is fresh. Breakfast and lunch will be located in the Tea Room as well, the same room as registration will be held. Breakfast begins at 6 A.M. and lunch will begin at 10:45 A.M. A reminder that caddies are not included in these numbers, and there are breakfast options at the restaurant (Le Bellerive on the ground floor of the restaurant) or the clubhouse up top for a fee.

Dinner Reservations

As a reminder, the Charlevoix area and the hotel fill up fairly quickly for dinner reservations. It is highly recommended that you try and secure dinner reservations ahead of the championship.

 

Pairings

Pairings will be released shortly and we’ve had to adjust a few things regarding this due to the time of year and size of our field. With 156 players and day light that is diminishing each day, we are looking at a 6:50 A.M. start off #1 and #10, with the afternoon wave beginning at 11:50 A.M. With our Group Pace of Play policy in effect, this should take us to 6:30 P.M. each day, which should be enough daylight to complete play.

Rulings

If you need a ruling throughout the week, we have 6 certified officials out there to help you. If a Referee is not close to you, my cell phone number will be put on the scorecard to assist you and that way I can send a Referee over to you as quickly as possible.

 

Yardage Guides

Compliments of the club, Le Manoir Richelieu has provided each player (one only) with a yardage guide for the week. This will be given out at registration on Monday.

 

Max Yardages

A white stripe will be placed at the far side of the teeing area (in the rough) and that will signify the longest that particular hole will play during the week. A printed sheet can be picked up at the Pro Shop starting this weekend.

 

I know this is a lot of information, but since Player Meetings are cancelled for this year, this is the best way to communicate these details at this time.

Bonjour à tous ! Nous sommes fiers d'annoncer que notre peloton est finalisé et que 156 des meilleurs golfeurs du pays participeront au championnat cette semaine ! Voiturettes

Pour les joueurs dont nous venons de confirmer l'inscription, les voiturettes électriques sont obligatoires pour chaque ronde du championnat. Plutôt que de payer la boutique de golf pour chaque ronde, Golf Canada vous enverra une facture de 25 $/ronde en deux versements. La première facture sera pour la ronde d'entraînement, la ronde 1 et la ronde 2. Après la coupure, pour les joueurs restants, nous enverrons une facture pour les rondes 3 et 4.

 

Après avoir discuté avec le club, il semble que nous serons en mesure d'offrir une voiturette à chaque compétiteur. Ceci étant dit, pour ceux qui n'ont pas de cadets et qui souhaitent partager une voiturette avec un autre compétiteur, nous vous encourageons à explorer cette option. Les cadets peuvent accompagner le joueur pendant le championnat et peuvent également utiliser la voiturette. Pour la ronde d'entraînement, les cadets ne pourront pas utiliser de voiturettes en raison du nombre de joueurs et du jeu public sur les neuf autres trous. Les cadets peuvent marcher ou se joindre aux joueurs de manière appropriée pendant la ronde d'entraînement. Les voiturettes seront seulement réservées aux joueurs le lundi.

 

Quoi qu'il en soit, les joueurs qui prendront le départ le matin devront immédiatement ramener leur voiturette à la zone de préparation, en bas de la colline, près de l'hôtel et de la remise des sacs, afin de s'assurer que nous aurons suffisamment de voiturettes pour la deuxième vague de l'après-midi pour les rondes 1 et 2.

 

Temps d'entraînement avant les rondes

Avec la COVID-19, nous demandons aux joueurs de ne pas se rendre sur le terrain de golf trop tôt (pas plus tôt que 1 heure et 15 minutes avant votre heure de départ) si possible.

 

Parking pour les joueurs hors site

Les joueurs qui arrivent dans la zone de l'hôtel verront des panneaux indiquant la zone de dépôt des sacs (à l'est de l'hôtel). Les préposés aux sacs vous indiqueront où stationner votre voiture, y compris où se trouve le parking de débordement au-delà de la zone de dépôt des sacs.

 

Inscription - Liste de contrôle des vaccins

À titre de rappel, la province de Québec exige que tous les intervenants impliqués dans notre championnat soient entièrement vaccinés. Cela comprend le personnel du tournoi, les joueurs, les cadets et les bénévoles. Nous vous demanderons de présenter une preuve de deux vaccins approuvés par Santé Canada, ou une dose de Johnson & Johnson, lors de l'inscription lundi. Je peux confirmer, après avoir passé quelques jours ici, que pour les résidents de l'extérieur de la province, une copie électronique d'une confirmation de vaccination ou une copie papier, accompagnée d'une pièce d'identité avec photo, est tout ce qui est requis. Pour les résidents du Québec, c'est la méthode du passeport qui est demandée à l'hôtel pour accéder aux restaurants et aux espaces d'activités intérieurs.

 

Les cadets doivent également s'inscrire à ce moment-là, si possible. Sinon, ils peuvent le faire avant la première ronde du mardi. L'inscription se fera dans le salon de thé de l'hôtel, juste en haut des escaliers de l'hôtel, à votre gauche (des panneaux vous indiqueront où aller). Les inscriptions sont ouvertes de 14 h à 18 h le lundi. Si vous ne pouvez pas vous inscrire pendant ces heures, veuillez me le faire savoir et nous prendrons d'autres dispositions.

 

Déjeuner et repas du midi

En raison de la COVID-19, nous devons malheureusement faire preuve d'un peu de créativité en ce qui concerne les options du petit déjeuner et du repas du midi pour cette année. Les buffets ne sont pas autorisés pour le moment et nous avons donc décidé d'offrir des petits déjeuners et des repas du midi en boîte pour les joueurs seulement. Ceux-ci seront apportés à des moments échelonnés tout au long de la semaine afin que la nourriture soit fraîche. Le petit déjeuner et le repas du midi seront également servis dans le salon de thé, la même salle que celle où se déroulent les inscriptions. Le petit déjeuner commence à 6 heures et le repas du midi à 10 h 45. Nous vous rappelons que les cadets ne sont pas inclus dans ces chiffres et qu'il existe des options du déjeuner au restaurant (Le Bellerive au rez-de-chaussée du restaurant) ou au chalet à l'étage supérieur, moyennant des frais.

Réservations pour le souper

À titre de rappel, la région de Charlevoix et l'hôtel se remplissent assez rapidement pour les réservations de souper. Il est fortement recommandé d'essayer de faire des réservations pour le souper avant le championnat.

 

Tirages

Les appariements seront publiés bientôt et nous avons dû faire quelques ajustements en raison de la période de l'année et de la taille du peloton. Avec 156 joueurs et la lumière du jour qui diminue chaque jour, nous envisageons un départ à 6h50 des trous #1 et #10, et la vague de l'après-midi commençant à 11h50. Avec notre politique de temps de jeu de groupe en vigueur, cela devrait nous amener à 18h30 chaque jour, ce qui devrait être suffisant pour terminer le jeu.

 

Bureau des tournois de Golf Canada

Notre bureau est situé au sous-sol du chalet, en haut de la « montagne »!. Si vous avez des questions, n'hésitez pas à venir nous voir.

 

Règlements

Si vous avez besoin d'une décision sur les règles de jeu au cours de la semaine, nous avons 6 officiels certifiés sur place pour vous aider. Si un arbitre n'est pas proche de vous, mon numéro de téléphone portable sera inscrit sur la carte de score pour vous aider et ainsi je pourrai vous envoyer un arbitre le plus rapidement possible.

 

Guides de distance

Avec les gracieusetés du club, Le Manoir Richelieu a fourni à chaque joueur (un seul par joueur) un guide des distances pour la semaine. Ce guide sera distribué lors de l'inscription le lundi.

 

Verges maximales

Une ligne blanche sera placée de l'autre côté de l'aire de départ (dans l'herbe) et indiquera la distance maximale que ce trou particulier pourra atteindre pendant la semaine. Une feuille imprimée sera disponible à la boutique du Pro à partir de cette fin de semaine.

 

Je sais que cela fait beaucoup d'informations, mais comme les réunions de joueurs sont annulées pour cette année, c'est la meilleure façon de communiquer ces détails pour le moment.

LIMITED GOLF BALL INVENTORY IN PRO SHOP

A reminder to players that the golf shop may have limited ball selection during the championship. It may be a good idea to bring extra balls for the championship, beyond what you will receive at player registration.

COVID-19 VACCINATION PASSPORT REQUIREMENTS

After continued discussions with our partners at Golf Québec and officials within the Government of Québec, we are now able to share how proof of vaccinations can be shared with our team upon your arrival at Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu.

 

Residents of Québec will be able to show proof of vaccination in one of three ways, listed below.  Whichever method is chosen, you must also show photo ID.

 

• On paper
• In a PDF on your mobile device
• On the VaxiCode application

 

Players travelling to Québec must show photo ID and proof issued by their province that they have had two doses of one of the following recognized vaccines, listed below.  We understand that proof of vaccination will differ by province.

 

• Pfizer
• Moderna
• AstraZeneca
• Covishield
• Johnson & Johnson/Janssen (only one dose required)

 

We understand that this is a sensitive issue, but players and caddies participating in the 2021 Canadian Men’s Senior Championship will need to be fully vaccinated before the tournament begins on Monday, September 20th (official practice round).  We will continue to accept full refunds until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 17th with this recent news for those that can no longer compete with this requirement.

MAJOR UPDATE - Province of Québec Vaccination Passport Requirement – September 1

Yesterday, the Québec government announced a mandatory Vaccination Passport policy that is supposedly coming into effect September 1st. Golf tournaments are a part of the activities that require a double dose vaccination. This also includes restaurants, and other indoor spaces as well where this is required. How the Vaccine Passport Works

 

Our team is working with our partners at Golf Québec as well as with officials within the Province of Québec on the next steps. As of right now, we don’t have all the answers but we are working on them and will provide an update to the field as we know more. It looks like the Vaccination Passport will be verified through an App based platform. We will update App instructions or the necessary next steps once we know more. As of right now, the Registry to validate your vaccine status is only available for Québec residents. We will update you once the ‘out of province’ information is available.

 

At this point, we know this is a sensitive issue, that in order to participate in the 2021 Canadian Men’s Senior Championship each participant will need to be fully vaccinated (most commonly two doses, other than Johnson & Johnson/Janssen) before the tournament begins. We will be accepting full refund withdrawals up until Friday, September 17th with this recent news for those that can no longer compete with this requirement.

 

Mandatory Cart Policy

For this year’s championship, we are in a situation where mandatory golf carts are required for all players and caddies due to the nature of the terrain on the golf course and distance between holes. Cost to rent a power cart per round will be $25/player, nothing additional for caddies. To streamline this process, we will be putting together invoices through your Golf Genius profile by an invoice/email method in the following installments:

 

• 156 players - $75 charge (practice round, 1st round and 2nd round)
• Top 70 and ties (after cut) – additional $50 charge (3rd round and 4th round)

 

This is will be done through Golf Genius closer to the tournament and this will require action on your end when we send the invoice to you as we don’t store credit card information in Golf Genius.

 

Player Pre-Tournament Survey

To help better understand your needs and ours for the tournament, we have created a survey below that should be filled out by every participant. We have 105 power carts at our disposal for the championship and we are looking to see which players are bringing caddies or not. This will help manage our cart fleet for the first two rounds of the championship. We have also included a player equipment survey to help our partners at Titleist of who plays what in our championships. Please see below:

Breakfast & Lunch During the Tournament

For each competition round, not including the practice round, Golf Canada covers breakfast and lunch for all players (caddies are not included, but alternative options can be made at the hotel through their restaurant etc.). While we typically have a buffet available, due to COVID-19 and current restrictions, we will be offering box breakfasts and lunches for this year to players. If anyone has any dietary restrictions, please let me know and we’ll do our best to accommodate. A reminder that breakfast and lunch will be served in the hotel, in the same room that registration will be on Monday, September 20th.

Le Manoir Richelieu is a 27 Hole golf course, which nines are we playing?

Le Manior Richelieu is a public facility so additional practice rounds can be booked prior to the official practice round at the expense of the player.

 

Getting to the Golf Course once you arrive to the hotel

Once you park at the property, you will most likely have to walk to the cart staging station just east of the hotel. Each player and caddie will have to take a power cart up to the golf course that is about a 6 minute cart ride to the clubhouse and practice facilities. Please allow for this extra time as breakfast and lunch will be served in the hotel, rather than at the clubhouse due to limited space.

 

Reservations for Dinner, Casino etc.

I’ve been told by the resort staff that dinner reservations and casino reservations should be booked well in advance of your arrival (approximately 3-4 weeks out). It’s a popular tourist destination in the fall, so to ensure you have a place to eat, it may not be a bad idea to book a few places ahead of time to secure a dinner spot at the hotel or in the La Malbaie community.
