Terms of the Competition
GENERAL
54 holes of Stroke Play. (Weather permitting) Cut to 66 players following the completion of the second round. If players are tied after 54 holes there will be a hole by hole playoff for the championship.
To protect yourself and others: practice physical distancing; wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer; cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your elbow; avoid touching your face with unwashed hands; watch for COVID-19 symptoms: cough, fever, shortness of breath, runny nose or sore throat.
Participants must adhere to each host club’s regulations in terms of access to facilities.
Participants are responsible for their own equipment at all times.
Congregating anywhere on host club property prior to or following the event is prohibited.
EVENT PRE-ARRIVAL
Waiver and Release, Risk Acceptance documents must be read, signed and submitted to Alberta Golf.
Check albertagolf.org for updates or notifications.
If applicable, have read all tournament regulations including Notice to Competitors.
CLUB FACILITIES & AMENITIES
The availability for participants to access the clubhouse, pro-shop and on-course rest rooms will be provided to all participants in advance by electronic means.
ARRIVAL AND PREPARATION
A greeter will be present to provide directions and will screen all participants.
Only registered participants are eligible to be onsite. Caddies and spectators are not allowed.
Players will be informed of all safety protocols in place in the event of inclement weather.
If applicable, players may use practice areas for no more than fifteen minutes prior to their tee time.
A player in breach of a COVID procedure is subject to penalties under the Code of Conduct
Play is governed by the Golf Canada Rules of Golf (effective January 2019), and, where applicable, by the following Local Rules and Terms of the Competition, subject to changes, additions or deletions for particular competitions. The player’s attention is drawn to Terms of the Competition as printed on the forms accompanying applications for entry. Complete text of Local Rules may be found in the Golf Canada Official Guide to the Rules of Golf (effective January 2019).
Unless otherwise noted, the penalty for a breach of a Local Rule is the General Penalty. Stroke play – Two strokes

- Replacing Club that is Broken or Significantly Damaged – Model Local Rule G-9 is in effect. When replacing a club, the player must immediately take the broken or significantly damaged club out of play, using the procedure in Rule 4.1c(1).

- Ball Played from Outside Relief Area When Taking Back-On-the-Line Relief – Model Local Rule E-12 is in effect. This applies in the application of Rules 16.1c(2), 17.1d(2), 19.2b, 19.3b.
- Pace of Play (Rule 5.6b(3)) – The Alberta Golf Individual Pace of Play Policy is in Effect
Note: Rule 5.6a (Unreasonable Delay of Play) is still applicable.
- Transportation – During a round, a player must not ride on any form of motorized transportation except as authorized or later approved by the Committee. A player who will play, or has played, under penalty of stroke and distance is always authorized to ride on motorized transportation. The player must wear the face mask supplied by the referee.
- Immovable Obstructions – White-lined areas of ground under repair and the artificially surfaced road or path or other identified obstruction they tie into are treated as a single abnormal course condition when taking relief under Rule 16.1.
- Bunkers - A ball in a bunker in a disturbed/not maintained area, may be considered to be in GUR by the player. Free relief will be allowed no nearer the hole and the ball may be placed (once) at the nearest point of relief and within one club length of where the ball lies. The ball MUST be PLACED in the bunker. Free relief will not be granted for interference by a disturbed area for stance or swing.
- Disturbed Areas in Bunkers – Defined as those areas where the lie has not been smoothed.
- Wood Chips and Mulch – Wood chips and mulch are loose impediments.
- Flagsticks – Golfers are required to leave the flagstick in the hole at all times. A player should not touch the flagstick at any time even with a gloved hand or towel. A club may be used to center the flagstick in the hole.
- Code of Conduct (Rule 1.2) – All breaches of COVID protocols and procedures are considered Code of Conduct violations. Alberta Golf has adopted the Local Rule under Rule 1.2b setting standards of player conduct on the golf course during all competitions. The full policy is available in the Alberta Golf Competitions Booklet.
The Rules Committee may assess any or all of the following penalties outlined below, based on the severity and frequency of the violation:

Note: Under Rule 1.2a, the Tournament Committee may disqualify a player for serious misconduct for acting contrary to the spirit of the game. The Tournament Committee has adopted Local Rule 1.2 to enforce temporary measures in place to prevent the community spread of COVID-19
