Notice to Players
Play is governed by the 2019 Golf Canada Rules of Golf, the 2021 Alberta Golf Terms of the Competition and Local Rules. Rules on the host club scorecard do not apply.
- Unless otherwise noted, penalty for breach of a Local Rule or Term of Competition is the General Penalty. 2 strokes.
- Format: Weather permitting, 54 holes of stroke play, cut to 60+ ties after 36 holes.
- Tie breaking procedures: Ties will be broken by a hole by hole playoff starting on #18, #18 #1 #2. Repeated as required.
- Please remember to replace your divots, fix ball marks and smooth your footprints and divots in the sand if no rakes are available.
- A ball in a bunker in a disturbed area is given free relief no nearer the hole and the ball may be placed (once) within one club length of where the ball lies. The ball MUST be placed in the bunker.
- Flagsticks must always remain in the hole and not be touched.
- In the event of a weather delay, ONE prolonged horn blast will indicate an immediate suspension of play, PLEASE evacuate to your vehicle and await directions. If Covid rules are NOT in place, evacuate to clubhouse.
On Course Play
- Tee Markers: Edmonton Country Club silver tees 6651 yds. The Ranch Gold tees 6553 yds. With AB Golf tee markers.
- Practice Areas: Practice area, driving range and practice putting green.
A player MUST NOT practice on either of the competition courses the day of or between rounds. Penalty for first breach: GENERAL PENALTY. Penalty for second breach: DQ.
- Out of Bounds: Defined by white stakes, white lines and boundary fences.
- Cart Paths: Worn areas and stakes immediately bordering cart paths are part of the path. Concrete blocks bordering the path are part of the path. Flower/shrub beds encompassed by cart path are part of the path.
- If a ball lies in a closely mown area and an immovable obstruction in the closely mown area and within two club lengths of the putting green and within two club lengths of the ball intervenes on the line of play between the ball and the hole, the player may take relief as follows: Ball must be lifted and dropped at the nearest point to where the ball lay that (a) is not nearer the hole, (b) avoids intervention and (c) is not in a hazard or on a putting green.
- All flower/shrub beds are NO Play ZONES mandatory free relief is allowed.
- Young, staked trees are swing and stance mandatory relief.
- At The Ranch, if you are on grass, you are NOT in the penalty area or the cut of rough may indicate the boundary of penalty area.
