WEDNESDAY DAY LADIES’ LEAGUE (18 Holes)

Greetings, Ladies. I hope you have all stayed safe and been well through the winter. It’s time to start getting excited about the upcoming golf season! Welcome back to all returning players and welcome aboard to those who may be new to our League this year. As the COVID 19 vaccine rolls out, we remain in the midst of the pandemic, therefore we will be following the same protocols as last year, unless we receive updated information and/or restrictions mandated by Valley Ridge Golf Course or the Provincial Government. Anyone new or unfamiliar with these protocols can find this information on the Valley Ridge website or by contacting the Pro Shop. Ladies’ League at Valley Ridge is non-profit and run by volunteers for the enjoyment and encouragement of Ladies golf. All fees collected for Ladies’ League are used to cover the costs of weekly league play prizes and the closing Tombstone Tournament meals and prizes.

All female Members of Valley Ridge, Principal and Spousal are welcome and encouraged to join us. Non-members who are interested in playing in our Wednesday League are also welcome, but some experience playing and a current handicap are required. As we all know, Valley Ridge can be a very challenging course and pace of play is important.

 

SEASON SCHEDULE:

Registration Opens on Golf Genius - Monday, March 8, 2021

Virtual Fashion Show - Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 5pm (more Info to follow)

League Play begins Wednesday, May 5, 2021 and ends September 29, 2021 (20 weeks) Not including June 16th or September 8th - Tournament dates)

Valley Ridge Annual Ladies’League Open Tournament - Wednesday, June 16, 2021

Wednesday League Tombstone Closing Tournament - Wednesday, September 8, 2021

 

2021 WEDNESDAY DAY LADIES’ LEAGUE FEES:

Members - $125.00 Non-Members - $200.00

 

NON-MEMBERS PRE-PAID GREEN FEE PACKAGE:

12 x Eighteen Hole Rounds - $780.00 plus GST. Any additional rounds beyond the original 12 can be purchased at the same rate. ($68.25 per round)

Optional Power Cart for 18 Holes for the season can be purchased for $216.00 plus GST

 

REGISTRATION THROUGH GOLF GENIUS:

All Registration Forms and Fee payments will be completed through the Golf Genius system. If you don’t already have it, you will need to download the APP. Search ‘Golf Genius’ from wherever you download your Apps to find it.(It is an orange icon with a globe of the world sitting on top of a tee.) Registration is NOT done from the APP; it is completed through the link that will be provided. We have extended the 2021 season by 4 weeks this year, so have increased fees slightly to cover multiple prizing for the extra weekly games and prizing for the Tombstone Tournament. For Non-members, included in the fees are the use of pull carts, driving range balls and the practice green. Your payment is confirmation of your registration in the League.

 

GOLF CANADA MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED:

EVERYONE in the Wednesday League is required to maintain a current Handicap through Golf Canada for 2021. This means that ALL of your rounds played ALL season long, at ANY course, can and should be entered on a timely basis every time you play, to keep your handicap current. Scores for rounds played on Wednesdays will automatically be entered in the Golf Canada system through Golf Genius. Golf Canada fees for members are paid by Valley Ridge through our annual dues. Non-members may purchase an annual membership through the Pro Shop at a cost of $36.00 plus GST. See the Pro Shop if you need to be set up this year.

 

19th HOLE TEE POT DRAW:

We are adding a weekly ‘19th Hole Tee Pot’ Draw, with a 50/50 split for the prize money! In order to avoid the exchange of money from multiple participants on a weekly basis and to remain COVID safe, there will be an option to purchase upfront on the Registration page through Golf Genius. If you choose to buy in, the upfront price is $100. (20 weeks at $5 per week) There will NOT be an option to participate on a weekly basis. This draw is being combined with players from the Monday Evening League and has the potential for a BIG payout every week. Those who play in both leagues only need to buy in once to be entered every week. The draw will be made every Wednesday starting the first week of May and the last draw will be September 15, 2021. (20 weeks) Participants will receive a weekly email with a link to the results in Golf Genius to find out who the winner is. An envelope will be waiting for pick up in the Pro Shop for the weekly winner. Please join us, because all revenue goes back into the league for more prizing and towards our tournaments. WEEKLY SIGN-UP AND TEE TIMES:

In May, the day league will commence at approximately 9am. As the days get longer, in June we will move to approximately 8:20am starts for most of the season and then move back to later starts around 9am in September, when the days get shorter and cooler again. All registrants will receive an email with an ‘invitation to play’ every week, one week prior to

the scheduled date of league play. It is IMPORTANT that you reply to this email and sign up every week, as the allotment of tee times for our league will depend on the number of players who have confirmed their attendance. To cancel, go back to the original email and select, ‘Not Playing’. Sign up will close every week on Sunday at 6pm prior to Wednesday play. Special Requests can be made through Golf Genius by using the feature to ‘Send a Message to the Manager’, if for example, you require an earlier or later tee time or want to bring a guest. A confirmation email will be sent Sunday night or Monday morning to all participants for that week with your tee time and a link to the entire tee sheet. With tee times at a premium, there are no guarantees that there will be spots available if you fail to sign up by 6pm Sunday. Everyone will be able to play with as many of the other ladies in the league as possible as our tee time groupings will be random draws by the Golf Genius system which mixes up the groupings every week and also balances everyone’s tee times between earlier and later starts. If you must cancel or missed signing up after the email with tee times has been sent out Sunday night, please call the Pro Shop (403-221-9682) to advise them you must cancel or to ask if there are any tee time spots available for that Wednesday.

 

MAXIMUM SCORES PER HOLE:

For the purposes of Ladies’ League and in the interest of timely play, we have always had a maximum score on any hole. When you reach these maximums, please pick up and move on to the next hole. This year will remain the same as last year; Double Par Plus 1:

On a Par 3 Hole the Maximum will be 3 x 2 (6) + 1 for a maximum of 7

On a Par 4 Hole the Maximum will be 4 X 2 (8) + 1 for a maximum of 9

On a Par 5 Hole the Maximum will be 5 x 2 (10) + 1 for a maximum of 11

 

GUESTS:

Those registered in the league for the season are welcome to invite a guest. The fee for a guest is $10 for the day (to Ladies’ League) plus their green fees. Send a message to the manager and we will enter your pairing manually so you play with your guest that day.

 

RINGER BOARD AND BIRDIE TREE:

The Golf Genius system will once again keep season long statistics for the Ringer Board and Birdie Tree and prizes will be awarded at the end of the season on September 29. This information will be available to view at any time on the GG App. For those unfamiliar, a Ringer Board is a season long tabulation of your best score on each hole. Birdies are also tracked each Wednesday and at the end of the season, draws are made for prizes from those who had Birdies throughout the year.

 

PRIZES:

Weekly prizes will be awarded for both Members and Non-Members in the form of a Virtual Gift Card and all winnings will be credited to your Member/Profile Account, to be applied towards purchases in the Pro Shop or in Mulligans.

 

WEDNESDAY DAY LEAGUE CLOSING TOMBSTONE TOURNAMENT:

Scheduled for Wednesday, September 8th, 2021, the closing tournament is played in our usual tee times beginning at 9am. Included in your Ladies’ League fees, are your meal and all prizes for this tournament when everyone is in.

 

VALLEY RIDGE ANNUAL LADIES LEAGUE OPEN TOURNAMENT:

Scheduled for Wednesday, June 16th, 2021. This 18 Hole tournament is hosted by Valley Ridge Ladies’ League and run as a separate event. We have yet to determine the format or costs this year, but it is open to anyone who cares to participate. You can sign up as an individual, 2 or 3some and we will fill in players to make groups of 4, or you can sign up your own team of 4. It is a very fun day of golf and this year, the Theme will be ‘Oktoberfest in June’. Most of us dress up and/or decorate our carts, but it’s not required. We usually have a 9am start and the fees for this will cover your meal and tournament prizes. More details will be available in May. Please inquire to anyone on the Executive if you or anyone you know are interested in participating this year and we will forward the information when it becomes available. Registration will be through Golf Genius.

 

CHAMPS:

We have yet to receive confirmation from the CLGA whether they will be proceeding with CHAMPS this year. We will communicate that as soon as we know. If they proceed, please consider signing up, as it is a great opportunity to play at another course around the city or surrounding areas. There is no cost for this but you must be a Member in order to participate on behalf of VR. Titia Born would co-ordinate all Champs matches and will be looking for participants as the season usually starts around mid May.

 

GENERAL INFORMATION:

The social aspect has always been a HUGE part of our League. Most of us gather in Mulligans for lunch and social time following our rounds. Everyone will have to make their own determination as to personal risk for if, or when, they are comfortable going into Mulligans with their 4some for this social time. Provincial Government guidelines for restaurants will be communicated with the requirements in effect, in May. Our Food and Beverage Manager, Carla Chernetz, and Chef Peter Sowa may have weekly drink and/or food specials for Ladies’ League and Carla will have a section reserved for us in one part of Valley Hall. On nice days we all like to sit out on the patio. If you have any questions, please contact anyone on the Executive and we will do our best to find answers for you.
