A Brief History Of New Hampshire Senior Golfers Association

At 7:00 p.m. Tuesday August 6, 1957, at Manchester Country Club in Manchester, New Hampshire, the New Hampshire Senior Golfers Association, (from this point forward referred to as NHSGA), was officially formed. The original members were Frederick E. Johnston (President), Med M. Chandler, Lawerence Dowling (First Vice President -- remember that name as it will come up again), Carl H. Ekstrom (Second Vice President) and Stanley M. Burns (another name to remember -- see Awards pages).  In addition to these five gentlemen there were 6 other men elected to the Board of Directors as well as 28 admitted as charter members bringing to a total of 39 original members.

During that first year of 1957 there were two golf tournaments held with Manchester Country Club hosting on August 16, 1957 and Nashua Country Club rounding out the season on September 27, 1957.
