2021 Senior’s League Handbook
The official 2021 season will run from May 4th to October 5th.
However, we have decided to add in an early date so you can take advantage of the earlier start to the season.
We gather every Tuesday with tee times right now, usually alternating between Copperhead and Sidewinder.
You will register each week when the tee sheet opens up on Golf Genius. You can log on with GGID RSSL21. You can register up to 3 members for your tee time as well.
The SL annual membership fee is $210 of which $125 supports our Senior's League Charity Trust and is tax-receiptable. The balance goes to the prize fund. Membership is open to Rattlesnake Point members aged 55 and older.
Right now under the COVID-19 situation we will be following all guidelines to ensure the safety of our members and staff. The halfway house will be open with light snacks and beverages. Please remember there are no water coolers on course, the free water station is open behind the halfway house, and any drinks can be purchased from the halfway house. We will return to our regular buffet once we are allowed to open the clubhouse and gather in groups once again. Please stay tuned for that.
We will be using Golf Genius software for registration again this season. Each week, the Golf Genius tee sheet will open for your registration on Wednesdays at 8am. Remember that it is a first come, first serve basis so sign up quickly. And one important note, IF YOU SIGN UP, SHOW UP...OR CANCEL WITH STEPHANIE.
Players are encouraged to play from the tee deck that best suits their game, assuming there is one! Green, White, Blue/White, Blue....the world is your oyster, at least when it comes to tee decks.
Monthly prizes are awarded May through September. Monthly winners are determined based on the player's two best net scores for the month. Under the Stableford scoring system, points are awarded based on the total number of strokes taken per hole. The points scale encourages aggressive play - square in the crosshairs for old guys with nothin' to lose and a legacy yet unwritten - since the reward for scoring under par is greater than the penalty for scoring over par. The 'top 5' players each month will be recognized.
The Senior Men's Club Championship will be played on August 17th and 18th.
Open to Rattlesnake members aged 55 years and older, play will be contested over 36 holes.
Our Match Play competition for the Val McCaig Cup is full handicap and will be contested over the course of the season. An invitation to play will be sent when registration opens.
The Don Adam Cup is named after two-time Senior Men's Champion, Don Adam. It is presented to the Senior's League member who records the best Stableford point average per round over the course of the season thus earning the coveted title of Seasoned Gentleman Golfer of the Year. A minimum of ten (10) rounds are required to qualify. Past champions Ron Schelfhaut, Mark Salutin, Thos Ryans, David Campbell and John Mitchell are in this year's field.
Scoring in Senior's League play is simple. One member of your group must use the GGID to enter your scores. It will be emailed prior to your tee time. Count all your strokes. The maximum score for any hole is a net double bogey.
Gimmes are allowed however GIMMES ARE GIVEN, NOT TAKEN!
