Knuth Tournament Points System:
The Home Course Men’s Golf Club uses the Knuth Tournament Points System as a tool to further define/determine the proper handicap each of our members use in our monthly tournaments. The system awards “points” to the lowest 3 Net Scores in each flight. In a field which has 3 flights, just over 7% of the players are awarded points using this system. It is quite possible that an individual who wins a Gross prize also is awarded points because of a low Net score. The points are awarded as follows:
Lowest Net score in a flight: 3 points
Second lowest Net Score in a flight: 2 points
Third lowest Net score in a flight: 1 point
No Course Handicap adjustment is made until a member accumulates a total of 7 points in the last two calendar years. For example, points accrued in March 2019 will no longer be used is determining a Course Handicap adjustment in the April 2021 event. For every 2 additional points accrued in the last two calendar years above the 7 points minimum mentioned above, an additional stroke will be deducted from the member’s Course Handicap.
In 2 or 4-man team events, each member of the team is awarded the appropriate number of points described above.
A current list of the points awarded is posted on the Men’s Club website after each event. For further information on the Knuth Tournament Points System, please go to www.popeofslope.com.
