Blessings Golf Club to Host Trans-Mississippi Four-Ball

FAYETTVILLE, AR – Six miles north of the University of Arkansas lies Blessings Golf Club. The state-of-the-art facility is home to the Arkansas Razorbacks men’s and women’s golf programs as well as one the nation’s premier 18-hole championship golf courses. From Aug. 31 – Sept. 2, competitors in the 41st Trans-Mississippi Four-Ball Championship will test their game against the impeccably maintained Arkansas landscape.

Originally designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. in 2004, Blessing Golf Club underwent a recent renovation completed by renowned golf course architect Kyle Phillips. The course stretches to over 7,900 yards from the back tees and plays through two distinct landforms. Both nines climb up and down between the Clear Creek floodplain and a 65-foot plateau which highlights the dramatic elevation changes and its natural beauty.

Each hole is unique and can create drama for players of all skill levels. The course’s hilly terrain creates numerous side-hill lies, dramatic elevation changes, forced carries over ravines and valleys and large, undulating greens. Clear Creek comes into play on several holes, and accuracy off the tee is a must. The challenging layout is fair and makes for a great championship test.

“Blessings Golf Club demands the best on every single shot,” Head Golf Professional Justin Sellin said. “There are not many shots where a player isn’t risking putting the ball out of position. Whether it’s off the tee, a lay-up, or an approach into the green, it is imperative to keep your ball in position.”

Along with the immaculate 18-hole championship layout, Blessings Golf Club also boats extensive practice areas that are unrivaled and provide both indoor and outdoor facilities. A 9,000 square foot indoor short game facility includes a putting and chipping green as well as a fitness center for the Razorback golf teams. The outdoor practice areas feature a range with multiple teeing areas and numerous targets as well as bentgrass and bermudagrass putting greens. There is also a separate 3-acre short game area that includes large practice greens and numerous bunkers.

“The practices facilities are world class,” Sellin said. “It is tough to imagine not improving your game on this property. It is one of the few practice complexes that I've seen that makes you want to spend more and more time working on your game.”

The Trans-Mississippi Four-Ball Championship, an annual team best-ball event, is scheduled for 54 holes of stroke play with three divisions: Championship (25 and older), Senior (55 and older) and Super Senior (65 and older). Each division plays from separate tees and yardages and a champion will be crowned in each of the three divisions.

Blessings Golf Club is no stranger to hosting premier golf championships. Last August, the premier club hosted the 48th Southern Junior Amateur and crowned Tommy Morrison of Dallas as the champion. In 2019, the NCAA hosted the Division I Men’s and Women’s National Championship at Blessings Golf Club. The Duke Blue Devils won their seventh women’s team title, while Stanford University captured their ninth national championship. LPGA Tour-star Maria Fassi and PGA TOUR-winner Matthew Wolff claimed the individual titles. The club also hosts the Blessings Collegiate Invitational presented by Tyson Foods. The premier collegiate event is scheduled for Oct. 4-6 and will be broadcasted on Golf Channel.

“The Trans-Mississippi Golf Association has always had great players and courses attached to their championships,” Sellin said. “Being able to add Blessings Golf Club to the list and host the Four-Ball Championship is a great honor.”
