Q: What is The Richard A. Perry Memorial Foundation?
A: The Richard A. Perry Memorial Foundation is committed to funding education, health and social enrichment initiatives for children. With a focus on programs that allow kids to be healthy, explore their worlds and build confidence, our goal is to create opportunities for all children to lead healthy, happy, inspired lives. Richard was passionate about family, sports, education and serving the greater good – this foundation is a tribute to his life of dedicated community service.
Q: What is the "virtual" tournament?
A: This year we're hosting our golf tournament virtually, which means you can play any course in the country at any time you'd like. You can even play with a partner who's playing in a completely different location! Using the Golf Genius app, your scores will be calculated based on course and rank you as you play on our live virtual leaderboard.
Q: Is there an age requirement to play in this tournament?
A: While we are not affiliated with the PGA tour eligibiity rules, in order to play in our tournament participants must be 18 years or older.
Q: When is the tournament?
A: This event will span a full week and you may play your round between September 25th - October 2nd, 2020. Players must play and submit their scores on the Golf Genius App by 4PM on 10/2.
Q: Where is the tournament?
A: Anywhere you would like! When registering, please note which course you will be playing at for your round.
Q: What is the tournament format?
A: 18 hole, 2-person Best Ball. Better score of the 2 person team.
Q: How much does it cost to enter into the tournament?
A: The cost to enter our virtual tournament is $100 per player. This cost will give you the opportunity to enter the competition as you play a round of golf for a wonderful cause supporting programs, services and events for children of all ages. This entry fee does NOT include individual green fees.
Q: What is the tournament payout?
A: Our tournament will feature a progressive $10,000 pot split between net and gross. There were be 10 places in both the net and gross divisions for every team over 50 teams in our tournament, $25 will be added to the total pot. Members without a GHIN number will not be eligible for the net winnings.
Q: How do I play?
A: We will be using Golf Genius throughout the tournament for live scoring. Please download the free Golf Genius App if you don't have it already. Prior to the start of play on Friday, 9/25, all teams will be provided their GGID for live scoring. You "MUST" use the live scoring on the app to play in the tournament. This will give us the ability to view live real-time leaderboards as you play.
Q: How will I be scored?
A: Scoring will be conducted through Golf Genius and will be adjusted based on USGA and course slopes. Gross scores will be automatically adjusted by course rating and slope. Male players are NOT allowed to play the forward tees. All scores should be attested.
Q: What if I don't have a teammate and sign up as an individual player?
A: You will be randomly selected to play the round with another player by the officiating golf professional.
Q: Do all participants have to play at the same time?
A: No, a participant can play anytime within the timeframe of the golf tournament. The participant can play at a separate time from their partner.
Q: If I don't have a GHIN handicap, am I still able to be apart of the winnings?
A: Yes! For the participants that do not have a official GHIN handicap, your score will only be considered for the gross prize.
Q: Can a pariticipant register and play more than once?
A: Yes! Participants who would like to play more than once can do so in the alloted time frame of tounament play by registering more than once and obtaining an additional GGID code.
Q: Where is the money raised going to?
A: We are proud to donate the proceeds of this year's tournament to The S.E.A.L. Foundation. Their mission is to create and fund educational and social opportunities in non-public-school and camp settings for students who learn differently in order to ensure they maximize their potential.
