Please find information related to the 54th Williamson Cup conducted by the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association at the Pittsburgh Field Club in Pittsburgh, PA on Tuesday, August 8.
Format—The competition is 36 holes of stroke play, top three scores of four count per team per stipulated round. Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf.
Playoff—In the case of a tie for first place in the team competition a hole by hole playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee. The scores for all four team players will count during the playoff.
In the event there is a tie for low individual score, those players will be declared co-medalists.
Tee Markers—All play is from the WPGA tee markers, which will play approximately 6,750 yards based on conditions and yardages will vary from round to round. The starting tees will be holes #1 & #10.
Advice in Team Competitions—In accordance with the note to Rule 8 of the Rules of Golf, each team may appoint one person (in addition to the persons from whom advice may be asked under that Rule) who may give advice to members of that team. Such person must be identified to the Committee before giving advice.
Pace of Play—The maximum allowable time will be four hours and fifteen minutes (4:15). Pace of Play is governed by the WPGA Pace of Play Policy and a two-point checkpoint system will be in place on holes #9 and #18. WPGA Pace of Play Policy
Transportation—Players must walk and carry their own bag for the competition. Caddies and push carts are prohibited.
Footwear—METAL CLEATS ARE PROHIBITED--PENALTY IS DISQUALIFICATION.
Evacuation Plan—In the event of a suspension of play for a dangerous situation, players should seek the clubhouse, maintenance building or nearest shelter until the Committee can evacuate the golf course.
Players on holes 1,2,3,4,5,6,16,17 & 18 should proceed to the clubhouse.
Players on holes 7,8,9,11 & 12 should proceed to the half-way house near Hole #10 green/Hole #11 tee.
Players on holes 10,13,14,15 & 16 should proceed to the maintenance building right of Hole #15 fairway.
Note: A suspension for a dangerous situation will be signaled by one prolonged air horn note. All other types of suspension will be signaled by three consecutive air horn notes, repeated. Resumption of play will be signaled by two short air horn notes, repeated.
Spectator Info—No spectator carts will be permitted for the competition. Spectators will not be able to dine at the Pittsburgh Field Club and should plan accordingly.
